zawaideh··on Toronto-Based VPN Provider Plans to Quit Canada over Lawful-Access Bill
Use a VPN from country that is hostile to the one you are living in. This way your own country won’t spy on you.

People tend to worry about other countries, but it is usually within the country they live in that they have to worry about their rights being infringed.

zawaideh··on The Tower Keeps Rising
This is exactly what Marx meant by labourers being alienated from their work because none of them understood anymore how the repetitive task they did factored into the product sold.

We are going through a transition from a guild based software production with primitive division of labour to a machinery based one where AI is the steam engine and the job of the engineer is to build the production line, be the mechanic fixing the line, and also the assembly line worker.

It’s still a bit with only two possible values. But they add a scaling factor to a group of them (128 for example) which when you factor in, results in a fractional number of bits per parameter.

You are right. I was confusing it with another company LinearB. I should have double checked.

It’s really unfortunate that it is built in an apartheid state.

Re: Western. A similar thing plays out when the term "international community" is used in news. It refers to the US and its major allies which means US, Canada, Western Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand more or less.
zawaideh··on How Israeli actions caused famine in Gaza, visualized
Denying Palestinians their basic human rights to create an apartheid ethno state is not complex.

The narrative that “it is complex therefore there is nothing to be done” is meant to paralyze people from standing up for what’s right.

The solution has always been a single democratic secular state from the river to the sea. For all inhabitants of the land. Including those expelled previously.

Every single one of these companies that have enabled the genocide should be help accountable. Maybe some are trying to claim plausible deniability.

For those looking for direct sources on the findings of genocide in Gaza, here are several key reports and legal conclusions from human rights organizations, international courts, and genocide scholars:

1. UN Commission of Inquiry: Concluded that Israel has committed genocide in the Gaza Strip. * Report: https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2025/09/israel-has-c... * Press Conference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trUcK8hHaIA

2. Amnesty International: Concluded that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. * Statement: https://www.amnesty.org/en/petition/end-israels-genocide-aga...

3. B'Tselem (The Israeli Information Center for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories): Published their conclusion that Israel is committing genocide. * Report ("Our Genocide"): https://www.btselem.org/publications/202507_our_genocide

4. International Court of Justice (ICJ): Ruled in January 2024 that it is plausible Israel's acts could violate the Genocide Convention. * Case Details: https://www.icj-cij.org/case/192

5. Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention: Issued an "Active Genocide Alert" in October 2023, warning of the high risk of genocide. * Alert: https://www.lemkininstitute.com/active-genocide-alert-1/acti...

Beyond these formal reports, it's crucial to acknowledge that this has been one of the most documented atrocities in history, often livestreamed by Palestinians on the ground. Their testimonies have been consistent from the beginning, yet they are frequently dismissed until a non-Palestinian, "human" source validates their lived experience.

zawaideh··on Apple Health lies to you about your six months sleep average
There are so many odd decisions and/or bugs with it..

for example, logging the weight in Kilograms using shortcuts and asking it to read it back while sometimes run into float rounding 75.0000000000001... why not store in grams as an integer!!

Sometimes time in bed is shorter than time asleep!

If the server can't operate on the content, it can't merge it into the CRDT documents. Which means it would need to sending and receiving the entire state of the CRDT with each change.

I’ve had a similar line of thought.. basically what you are proposing is sort of a voucher system. But, here is where my mind went, what if it is implemented as a bunch of tokens issued via a blockchain or even through a central authority. They can be freely traded if needed and prices can go up and down, but regardless of the price, there is a set number of them that get issued.

Similarly, you can get issued tokens/rewards for doing needed work.

I’ve wanted to spend more time thinking through this more thoroughly and flesh out the idea more.. without ever having the chance to
