zaik··on Tech sucks: You have to vote with your wallet, or nothing will change
But what about relative power?

US GDP / #votes in last presidential election = 208608 USD

You must indeed have a big wallet if you perceive it to be more powerful than your vote. Only a small percentage of people spend that much in a year.

> easy to use without a google account

I'm doing that and I had to get a second phone with a Google account just for banking and government apps. Not exactly easy I would say.

zaik··on Why Book Corners won't sync contributions back to OpenStreetMap
OSM is interested in pictures, even of bookcases:

The only difficulty is data than can not be easily represented in key=value pairs, such as timetables for buses. But even this can be resolved by adding external references.

zaik··on Why Book Corners won't sync contributions back to OpenStreetMap
Have you considered making OSM itself the submission mechanism? This could be as simple as having a static guide on how to add bookcases to OSM. Your app could also act as an OSM editor specifically for bookcases (not a general one).

It's an effect of walled gardens that the communication method is conflated with the app. But people understand well that Outlook and Thunderbird is both just email. I think this analogy helps when explaining XMPP.

I have achieved nothing this year, and yet I have had a lot more success than Mr. Musk in the "human lives saved" category by not gutting USAID. With reasonable estimates on the weight of this category I'm quite confident to have been more successful overall as well.
