PHP Requests is pretty good, too. https://github.com/rmccue/Requests
zackkitzmiller··on Uptime Robot
When I added a new check it says HTTP(s), then I just added the https:// for the domain I was checking. Works fine.
zackkitzmiller··on Uptime Robot
It seems to support HTTPs.. There's an option for it.
zackkitzmiller··on Uptime Robot
It actually already does support this, as well as twitter and push notifications to iOS via Boxcar.

Just click 'Add Alert Contact'. Also seems pretty granular about which monitors report to what contact.

zackkitzmiller··on FBI Says It's Busted The Web's Biggest Anonymous Drug Black Market
It's pretty close.
zackkitzmiller··on Medium Editor
A quote from Jackie Brown.
zackkitzmiller··on Mac OS X Sudo Password Bypass
Homebrew fails if you attempt to run it with sudo.
zackkitzmiller··on Sixpack: Language-Agnostic A/B Testing
We currently aren't using a fork for feature flags, though it would certainly be cool to do so.

Now get off HN and fork it.

zackkitzmiller··on Sixpack: Language-Agnostic A/B Testing
You actually already can do that, and all of the clients support it. It's probably just not documented.

Passing ?traffic_dist=10 to the participate endpoint will only direct 10% of traffic to the test. The rest will get the control alternative.

I'll add this to the documentation.

zackkitzmiller··on Sixpack: Language-Agnostic A/B Testing
It absolutely would.
zackkitzmiller··on Campaign for a new HTTP Error code: 451 - Blocked for legal reasons
Yes. 400 responses are because of client error. 500 responses are for server error.
zackkitzmiller··on Toward a more useful keyboard
The best thing I ever did was remap Caps Lock to Esc at some point last year.
zackkitzmiller··on New Service (by me, solo) Lets Musicians Sell On Itunes For Cheap
You still using coldfusion for everything?
zackkitzmiller··on This is also a web page
Same. I instantly closed the tab.
zackkitzmiller··on Fish shell 2.0
Out of the box, no. I've since switch to rbenv, which I actually like much better, and https://github.com/adambrenecki/virtualfish is a very nice port of virtualenvwrapper to fish.
zackkitzmiller··on Unbelievable
Coral Cache never fails

http://www.hackerfactor.com.nyud.net/blog/index.php?/archive...

Edit: It's failing.

zackkitzmiller··on How zsh is more useful than bash
I -think- the (albiet, overly exaggerated) point is that if you only know zsh, you could potentially be at a disadvantage if you need to use someone else's terminal. Especially a remote server.
zackkitzmiller··on How zsh is more useful than bash
bash does this.
zackkitzmiller··on Show HN: We manage your code duplication. We want your bugs to stay fixed
My personal private repos are missing, but some private repo's I've clone show.
zackkitzmiller··on Things a text editor must do
This should solve your problem: https://github.com/SublimeText/LineEndings
zackkitzmiller··on The SeatGeek Event Recommendations API
Unfortunately, it does seem that way. We're looking at it.
zackkitzmiller··on Devops/Sysadmin Cheatsheet
It's not. It's a poor title. Nothing there is Rails specific.
zackkitzmiller··on Forrst like Community for Side-Projects?
That's not entirely true. Forrst was originally developed to be a shareable collection of webdev things you found interesting that you can share, and sort of morphed into 'Show the progress of your app/ask questions/get advice' community that eventually morphed into.. well. what it is now.

Source: I was lead engineer at Forrst.

zackkitzmiller··on SeatGeek Launches iPhone App
We decided to just focus on the search and map experience and nail it, rather than add a whole lot of features at a lesser quality.
zackkitzmiller··on Is Facebook down?
Those DNS records are legit. the domains aren't facebook.com, facebook.com is at the beginning. Do a whois for anyone, and you'll get similar results.

Edit, this is the google.com whois http://scrp.at/de0b2ad78907145d389c19b5cd61dc7b4d06e4e7

zackkitzmiller··on Hotclicks
I'm about 90% sure that that is not true.
zackkitzmiller··on Show HN: We got tired of asking 'What browser are you using?' and created this
Findmebyip.com http://fmbip.com/get-started/ is a lot more full featured, I think.
zackkitzmiller··on Why Wordpress is the framework of the future
I honestly don't understand how the giant garbled mess of code that is wordpress could be considered a Framework.
zackkitzmiller··on FYI: private Github Gists are not as private as you think
I thought that was pretty obvious, since you can just share the URL with anyone, with out any sort of auth.
zackkitzmiller··on Ticket engine SeatGeek launches developer platform, offers 50/50 revenue split
Sorry about that. I'm deploying a fix right now.
