yxlx··on ‘2001: A Space Odyssey’ rendered in the style of Picasso
Like someone said about this on /r/programming:

>Pretty tight that computers can drop acid now.

Anyway, here's a direct link to the video for mobile users: https://vimeo.com/169187915

yxlx··on 1999.io: Blogging like it's 1999
I read that and I sort of get it but still feel that I do not quite get it.
yxlx··on Motion Stills – Create Looping GIFs from Live Photos
Yes, but can it use a html5 video format instead of gif?
yxlx··on My open-source, do-it-yourself cellphone (2013)
Hopefully, moderator dang will edit the title for you.
yxlx··on Source code for 4kb demoscene production “Elevated” released
Sweet, thanks!

Oh, haha, yup, most likely that.
yxlx··on Source code for 4kb demoscene production “Elevated” released
Will an online recording be available of that talk? I'd love to watch it.

yxlx··on Show HN: Homemade 32-bit CPU and OS (2015) [video]
He sounds like he's in his twenties to me. If so, do you think he would have had an Acorn computer? I dunno, could be.
yxlx··on King Tut's dagger blade made from meteorite, study confirms
Aliens built the pyramids confirmed. Tutankhamon was a reptilian.
yxlx··on A Conversation About Fantasy User Interfaces
Very good article. I also enjoyed the inclusion of a demo reel to break it up a bit so it's not all just text.
yxlx··on Web Storage: the lesser evil for session tokens
Maybe they were thinking of the options most browsers have to clear selected private data on exit. In that case, though, it's still possible to clear both localStorage and cookies I am sure. Maybe parent commenter currently has the options set so that cookies are cleared but localStorage is not and that's why they thought that this is the way it always is.
yxlx··on Microlight.js, a code highlighting library
Hello, Firefox on Android user here on a tablet from circa 2012. Extreme lag, unlike most websites.

There are definitely unacceptable performance issues with the syntax highlighter javascript.

It looks great, it's a cool project, but it is not suitable for use anywhere.

yxlx··on Interpreting Analog Sticks
Thanks :)
yxlx··on Null References: The Billion Dollar Mistake – Tony Hoare (2009) [video]
I would like to read about this. Got any links?
yxlx··on Interpreting Analog Sticks
What was the name of the joystick? Do you have a photo of it so I can understand what you mean?
yxlx··on ISSE: An Interactive Sound Source Separation Editor
That was an interesting video, thanks for linking it.

Two books are mentioned in the video, both of which I would like to read;

- "History of Harmonic Pythagoreanism" by Rudolf Haase

- "The Harmony of the World" by Johannes Kepler

The original title of the book by Haase, I found by jumping to the mark where it was mentioned in the original german language video, was Geschichte des Harmonikalen Pythagoreismus. Unfortunatelly, I have not been successfull in finding an English translation of the book. I could read the German version but would only understand a few select parts so I would much prefer to read it in English. Does anybody know of an English version of the book?

yxlx··on Repurposing Old Smartphones for Home Automation

yxlx··on Reddit launches image uploads, ditching alliance with Imgur
I've seen it. It depends on the referrer. When coming from Reddit, visitors will not be redirected.
yxlx··on CryEngine out on GitHub
Thank you too :)
yxlx··on Terms and conditions word by word
This is correct, as can be seen from the following tweet retweeted by Forbrukerrådet and therefore currently on display on the OP link: https://mobile.twitter.com/PRlinjen/status/73507293647489024...
yxlx··on CryEngine out on GitHub
Doesn't have issue tracker so can't ask them directly. Hoping they will see it here.

I think that instead of just linking to the license, they should include a copy of it in the root of the repository and refer to that. It is the proper way to do it.

yxlx··on Show HN: Ceilfire.com – Online HTML5 Game Maker
I suggest adding a category for mobile friendly games and also showing little icons next to each game to show if they work on PC, mobile or both.
yxlx··on Why I Haven’t Fixed Your Issue Yet
No, but parent archived the page from Bings cache.
yxlx··on Introducing WhatsApp's Desktop App
No, he's saying that in order for the messages to be available, they have to be stored locally and since most people need access to the messages from their phones, it makes sense to do it this way to ensure that all messages are stored on the phone, instead of users ending up with some messages on their phones and some on their PCs.
yxlx··on Giant bags of mostly water: Securing your IT infrastructure
There's no escape on my tablet. Also, the whole experience is horrible on tablet also wrt the other parts of navigation. Doesn't fit right on screen, navigates when trying to adjust, jumps around when trying to navigate. Hard to hit the arrows. I bailed out on this after three slides. Unusable.
yxlx··on Panama Papers source issues statement
The tone of the statement is very anonymous in nature. Cold and factual. I wonder if this is how its author normally express theirself or if they've written in this style in order to defeat authorship attribution.
yxlx··on Stack Overflow: How We Do Deployment
>Perhaps one day I will learn how to write HN clickable URLs...

Leading space is for preformated text and is mostly useful for code. For everything else, don't add leading space. Do add extra line breaks, though.

Here are your links with extra line breaks and without leading space, thus nicely presented and clickable.

yxlx··on The Legend of Prince’s Special Custom-Font Symbol Floppy Disks
I knew about the name change but not the reason. I had always chalked it up to hubris on his part. Thanks :)
yxlx··on Personal info of 93M Mexicans exposed on AWS
>check out the removal request policy page - it's quite humorous.

I found it childish and unprofessional, just like the reply letters TPB wrote in response to DMCA requests.
