yuriyg··on Galaxy S III beats out iPhone 4S as top selling device in US
Isn't this a classic issue in software developement, where you have to require or assume some minimum OS version? Remember all those labels: "Windows 95 or higher required."

And especially with web developement, where you'd have to test your site on a various number of combinations of OS, browser, and resolution.

Not trying to troll here, but can someone explain this "fragmentation" issue please? There's a single API for Android; there are also different versions of the API, but there's a same issue in iOS. Is the issue the different screen resolutions? Does all the Android developement require low-level access to hardware?
yuriyg··on How well does music predict your politics?
Yet another example of a fallacy of representing the political spectrum in one dimension. People are being conditioned to thinking in terms of left-right, good-bad, democrats-republicans; instead of in terms of real issues. While entertaining, this article adds nothing of value to the political discussion.
yuriyg··on Swiftype (YC W12) Builds Site Search That Doesn’t Suck
> On top of that, Swiftype also allows site owners to pin and unpin different items to the top of their search results.

Obviously a great feature for the site owner. But I'm sure if that's a useful feature for the users. At least Google's results are objective, and wouldn't give me the page generates the most revenue as the first link.

yuriyg··on 4 Weeks with DuckDuckGo
Google has provided this for years with the "site:" feature (e.g. search for "lists site:python.org"). In addition, Google uses its own results, since as the article correctly mentions "most site’s internal search engines suck".
