yunnpp··on ReBarUEFI: Resizable BAR for almost any UEFI system
What is the purpose of your comments? You failed to answer his question, then attack him for asking the question. Consider the two possibilities: a) doing that homework is easy, b) it's hard. If it's easy, you could have just posted the relevant link and be done. If it's hard, then his question is warranted. Either way, your comments add nothing. One can only conclude that you don't actually know how to answer the question. The real question, though, is: why even bother replying?

Also, ReBAR can get complicated as you can see from other responses above. The articles on the web are also not really good as they tend to replicate marketing material and make vague statements about performance, but fail to explain how specifically performance is improved.

yunnpp··on Europe's "Less" Is Doing More Than Anyone Gives It Credit For
But today, sir, is not that time. Today, we march.

yunnpp··on Manifesto – who we are and what do we want (2002)
The sale of the hammer to a sanctioned group would violate export controls and other regulations. So yes, it is your fault.

In this case these guys are providing a service, so I would wonder what they are doing differently than, say, Facebook. The latter is also used (and run) by criminals. Most likely the governments want this particular service down, found the legal avenue to do so, and are now following through.

yunnpp··on CEO fired developers to make room for AI. Developers create open source AI CEO
An auditable executive would certainly be a first.
yunnpp··on Every Fucking Website (2020)
These little easter eggs are why I read the comment section down to the Nth level of nesting.
yunnpp··on [dead]
The use of slang like 'moronic' on an official government website somehow encapsulates the full state of things very succinctly.

yunnpp··on 70% of AI revenue comes from OpenAI and Anthropic [video]
TIL too, but probably what GPUs are good at: optimizing for throughput while hiding latency. Probably better suited for OLAP than OLTP.
yunnpp··on Oracle bans AI-generated code from OpenJDK
This just reflects how absolutely clueless you are about the amount of attention to detail that the OpenJDK folks put into developing the language and ensuring that it works for all its users (which are serious users delivering actual value.) And I say this not even being a Java programmer myself, just an envious C++ dude watching from the sides.
yunnpp··on When online commenters detect my art as AI
It's like people who order a diet coke with sushi and feel entitled to drop a 2/5 review on Yelp because they had a stomach ache.

Some people really shouldn't have a voice.

yunnpp··on AMD acquires Taalas to boost inference performance by etching models in silicon
I would've hoped the company stayed independent instead of being engulfed into a behemoth. I'd like to see more diversity in the hardware ecosystem, but I guess the economics of hardware manufacturing aren't there.

> If I had windows forced on me for corp reasons, like I did once, just full screen a VM

Ah, the naivete of the innocent. You are vastly underestimating the amount of spyware like Crapstrike Falcon that the IT department will force on you. And you think that shit runs on a VM?

Consider yourself lucky that you don't suffer Windows at work. I have only a single thought for all Microsoft software: death.

yunnpp··on I’m leaving OpenAI to build telepathy
> In a couple years, the main way we'll talk with our AIs is with our thoughts. They will not be a super-smart automated intern or coworker that you desperately try to keep up with. They will be a natural, joyful extension of you.

Ah, yes, very joyful indeed.

Also, fuck those interns! They're just too smart to keep up with.

yunnpp··on I’m leaving OpenAI to build telepathy
Up and to the right, to be more specific. Transcend your one-dimensional thinking, Razengan.
yunnpp··on Aristotle quotes on virtue, knowledge, and happiness
Thanks for delving, I hadn't picked up on the misattributions. But I'm looking to read some of those books now given the comments here.

And which part of "ad fraud" is the fraud? As far as I can tell, ad networks and advertisers are the fraud and they are also part of the increasing surveillance state.

Didn't know Krebs was a mainstream news puppet.

yunnpp··on I'm 38 and I Can't Support Myself Anymore
Do you really believe that nonsense? By that logic, we should legalize all drugs and optimize that LSD supply chain.
yunnpp··on I'm 38 and I Can't Support Myself Anymore
What an insane comment. Can't tell if you're serious.

> and I doubt you'll find anyone who'll disagree that it's not a big problem.

As far as I know, people vote against housing developments, among other things to prop up their own house values. They might not disagree it's a problem, but they also don't care to do anything about it. I don't think the housing issue is strictly economics and logistics.

yunnpp··on Software rendering in 500 lines of bare C++
Yeah, the book has a nice balance, it's precisely why I picked it up. It allowed me to get something up and running quickly, then iterate over it.
yunnpp··on Software rendering in 500 lines of bare C++
I bought and I am reading through your book as I build a sw rasterizer. On the chapter of clipping, it was not entirely clear to me how many planes you clip against and how many triangles result.

Presumably if you clip against all 6 planes, you get 3+6-2 = 7 triangles in the worst case, which is kind of annoying. However, if you're going to use the AAAB triangle raster method as described in this HN post, then it seems there's no need to clip against left/right/top/bottom planes of the frustum, since it is simpler to just clip the screen-space AABB of the triangle instead. So one just needs to clip against near/far. This is simpler and faster.

I was curious if you had given any thought on that, or if you plan on working on a second book with more details on these nuances.

yunnpp··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
> Though one must ask, why are American models banned in China? Hmmm.

Because the models are behind a gate and the data goes overseas. The same is not true for open weight models. One should avoid the former and prefer the latter simply based on principle, not on country of origin.

yunnpp··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
It's not free from interference either. It requires enforcing antitrust, for example, which the US seems to have forgotten. Literally what you quoted:

> the term free market refers to a market free from all forms of economic privilege, monopolies and artificial scarcities.
