I saw that all the time on my way into work (internship) this past summer. I just passed the cop. What annoyed me was other people who refused to pass the cop.
I also saw, in equal amount to cops going too slow, was cops going too fast, oh well.

For more information, see wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackboard_Inc
Edit: I should point out that my knowledge of blackboard is near non-existant, I haven't had to use it in any of my schooling (university in central florida, public education in silicon valley), so I don't have a useful opinion of it.
There are probably exceptions, but this holds true in at least California and Florida. Also, ianal, so I could be wrong.
I get the double whammy of 1) I feel all good and whatnot of making sure the content produces get some money (even if it's realistically, like, 10% of what I payed to get the series), and 2) I have rather high quality masters that I can then rip rather high quality copies to a hard drive.
Also, this is faster than just torrenting the shows at similar quality. (maybe a few days, regardless of the show compared between a day and more than a week, depending on the popularity of the show)
That said, I would not recommend it to people. The iPad actually can, and does, do the job of a tablet pc far better than any tablet pc I've used.
However, I've already committed to the AI class, and in addition to my regular coursework (Entering second year of uni, go me!), I don't think I'll be able to handle this.
I think option one is more likely.
Yes it does. I took a trip cross country (florida to california) this past may. Ethanol infested gas killed MPG by at best 10%, at worst 20%. It wasn't even that much cheaper, too.
Just had to wait a while. Xcode 3 has been good and free to use (and still is).
So, in your case, the last time you heard of anyone guessing a password was about a second ago.
With that in their EULA, they are essentially stating: "We know that our software sucks, but to prevent others from stating that we specifically suck, we're going to forbid academic papers (which are, for the most part, impartial studies) from mentioning us by name, thereby putting doubt over whether it's us or some other facial recognition product."
I need to make a note to actually read EULAs from now on, because I want to get my money back if I ever buy software with that in the EULA.
At the same time though, I'm constantly working on side projects. Currently, I'm building an autonomous tricopter, because I thought it'd be cool to build. Last semester, I wrote a webapp to handle an event we were having. Previous semester, I was working on a way to control my room from my computer (still working on that, just not as intensely). These all easily answer "Why am I doing this?" (tricopter: because it's cool. Webapp: Might be able to make money from this [Note: didn't make any money from it ): ]. Computer-controlled room: It's cool, and it allows me to be incredibly lazy.)
I know that I'm not an idiot, I should be getting As, and I do get As in the classes that genuinely interest me. Unfortunately, at least 75% of the classes I take don't interest me, so I get lost in trying to answer "why am I even bothering with this?"
I need to be able to build/test for OSX 10.3.9, which isn't something that I can do on xcode 4.
Though, for my company, the production building is done with xcode 2.something.
For my personal projects, I love xcode 4, so much of an improvement over 3.x.
> The issue isn't "word choice" it is tone and writing style.
Forgive me, my vocabulary failed me when I was writing that particular sentence. > Writing in leetspeek is equally objectionable, for instance, and people do downvote those who write that way on HN.
Good point, although leetspeak kills readability, whereas "this." is just a way to say "yes, I agree with you.".In my opinion, a comment that is simply "this." should get no votes at all, whereas a comment that is entirely in leetspeak should be downvoted into oblivion. Killing readability is a far greater sin than simply failing to realize that the upvote button exists for a reason.
However, a content-free message of simply "this." does deserve a downvote.
"Oh, I don't like your word choice, so I'm going to downvote you regardless of the content."
I upvoted both of your comments because of that statement. Explaining your position (although, it is a fairly weak argument) is enough.
My trigger for cargo-cultism was him stating that you want to lay out your templates in Haskell first.
I did event videography up until last fall (went away to college), every gig I got was because I knew person planning it (theatre: I knew the director, weddings: I knew the wedding planner)
I had a day job working at subway last summer. I got the job by going to the manager (whom I've known for many years) and asking for the job.
My current internship is at the same company my father works at. I went to the CTO and asked for an internship. It probably helped that my dad works there.
I've also applied for several jobs. Every job I applied for at my college I was turned down for, every other internship I applied for told me "lol, freshman".
