I'm dreading setting up Plex and Syncthing again so I've been dragging my feet. Seeing the comment about dreading each update isn't exactly lifting my feet out of the dirt.
https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php more of a historical collection of stories than an active forum about Planet Computer's devices.
The absurdity being the creation of an enterprise environment to use enterprise tools to shape a personal computer into something that closely resembles an experience you used to get out of the box 15 years ago.
To build a castle so as not to be treated like livestock.
Its still there and still my goto search engine when I'm not on one of my personal devices.
I just prefer Kagi now because I pay for it so I'm their customer not their product. I also like the configuration options Kagi offers.
What I CAN envision is my labor becoming worthless. A level of worthless that no amount of education or personal character could make valuable again.
Its great to talk about not having to work. The mechanics of how we get there typically amount to hand-waving magic. Which if that is how we get there then I also want a pony.
Instead of a big V8 slab of pig iron for an engine you end up with a smaller turbo charged engine. Coupled with a mostly aluminum body to save weight is how they've been increasing fuel economy of trucks.
There has also been a significant drop in the desire for base model two-seater trucks. Most trucks sold are some variation of extended/crew/king cab. Coupled with a desire to use the truck as a daily driver you end up with a lot of extra like adaptive cruise control, cameras, infotament, etc.
Plus the usual expansion of standard safety features that has been raising the price of all vehicles. Backup cameras being required equipment now comes to mind as an example.
Since its running Coreboot/SeaBIOS now it won't boot Windows. That's fine though became it runs the XFCE edition of Manjaro just fine.
Also, if you're fine with Google then Kagi is probably not the right product for you.
LineageOS is in the same boat as GrapheneOS in this regard.
"GrapheneOS passes the basicIntegrity check but isn't certified by Google so it fails the ctsProfileMatch check. Most apps currently only enforce weak software-based attestation which can be bypassed by spoofing what it checks."
I see App Lounge in the screenshot so I assume the VM's are running /e/. Have you tried installing any of the MDM's out there like AirWatch or InTune?
As a thought exercise, how about some light abuse. What would happen if I rammed a couple TB of BitTorrent data through that VM. Maybe used it as seedbox. Or maybe a proxy so I can access a streaming service.
It feels like you're really trying to sell the phone part, and that the Android VM is a means to an end. However, this is just a random phone number that I suspect isn't portable. So if I stop using your service I can't take the number with me. So why wouldn't I get a Skype number for $6.50/month, Skype to Phone for $3.50/month, and then use the web.skype.com page to make all the phone calls I want. Or you can do what I do and use jmp.chat for phone calls and SMS and have it all routed to the XMPP client of your choice (as long as that client supports all the needed features).

Meanwhile, the Marines are trying to figure out how to utilize the A-10 even more.

If the Army doesn't pick up the A-10, then the Marines certainly would.
In my opinion, the only way the A-10 goes away is if the Air Force comes up with a direct replacement for the A-10's CAS, and the "Swiss Army Knife" F-35 isn't it.
> Laptops have shorter service lives because they get dropped or drinks spilled on them.
Those are certainly factors, but I've found reduced battery life is what gets users asking for a new laptop if they haven't prematurely killed it some other way.
This is why I use TrueNAS. I use Core instead of Scale though because I prefer FreeBSD. Its main job is to hold my ripped media library and run Plex. If I can glue other stuff to it (like an Ubuntu Server VM running Pi-Hole) then that's just an added bonus.
