yongelee··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (August 2022)
SEEKING WORK | REMOTE (Thailand time) Available for part time freelance work.

I'm a frontend developer specializing in Next.js and Javascript web applications.

I started my first internship in 2014, and have been freelancing since 2016, which is when I started learning React and Node.

I created an NFT sports card marketplace for high school athletes - https://verifiedink.us - I worked with my client from the beginning of the project, gathering requirements, architecting the project, and continue to work on the features today.

It's built with Next.js, Supabase, Chakra UI, Stripe, & Solana.

My own project is a no-code website portfolio builder for freelancers built with Next.js, Styled Components, Node/Express, Stripe, and more. - https://leavewithaweb.site

It's been through dozens of iterations from the code base to the UI/UX and more over the past 2 years.

I am currently interested in Next.js full-stack development work or anything frontend coding related.

I will be based in Thailand for the next few months at least.

Rate - $70us / hr

yongelee··on Show HN: I made a portfolio website generator
Hey everyone!

I've been working on my website generator for freelancers for 6 months now and I'm finally ready to launch the official first release of it.

I've been blogging everyday about it as well since the end of April on my blog at https://albertkim.ca check it out!

The web app is - https://lancerprofile.com/

The tech stack is:

- Next.js/Apollo Client/Mobx/Vercel on the frontend

- Node.js/Typescript/Typegraphql/Typeorm/Postgres/Dokku/Digital Ocean on the backend

The main idea is to provide the easiest, fastest, and user friendliest way for a freelance writer to go from not having a website to having a great website.

My websites have 100/100/100/100 scores on Lighthouse audits as you can see from this screenshot - https://lancerprofile.com/screenshots/lighthouse.png

From this website built with my web app - https://lancerprofileexample.netlify.app/

You also get free hosting because I deploy websites to your Netlify account which provides free hosting for you.

If you have any questions, ask me almost anything!

To even try? To try to exercise and not drink sodas is extremely frustrating? Living a healthy lifestyle is about simple choices like going to the gym or adding broccoli to your meal and avoiding junk food.

SEEKING WORK - Toronto, Remote OK

You have an idea and want to turn it into reality.

You waste time with repetitive tasks that you know can be automated.

I want to help you make that happen.

I'm a web developer who focuses on creating startups that are web app based.

An example of a web app I created. (React, Redux, Node, Express, Mongodb)

https://roadto4k.com

This doesn't look like a lot but the backend functionality is quite complex.

If you need something built, time saved by automating time wasters, or something technical let's talk!

I want to hear about your problems and how we can build a solution around it.

yongelee··on Belarus to create a regulatory environment for circulation of cryptocurrencies
Right, as far as I'm aware, no one ever has made any money from Bitcoin, and its 1000s of % increases in less than a year.
yongelee··on REST is the new SOAP
Medium posters borrow clout from medium which makes their post have clout. If you think of medium posters as just bloggers with their own domain or blogspot, you'll see them differently.

yongelee··on How Facebook's Instagram Acquisition Led to the Open Sourcing of React.js
More naive to assume that React is the end game for UI design.

I'm sure some opportunistic corrupt SA politician can see some use cases for what was once Venezuela.
yongelee··on Ask HN: What are the higest paying technologies which have remote opportunities?
Sometimes you'll be working for a creative agency when working with ad execs which I think are a different personality type than a typical banker who always work for banks.

What an interesting and revolutionary idea! That could actually change the world.
yongelee··on My Little Sister Taught Me How to “Snapchat Like the Teens”
This is pretty stupid. Teens aren't the trendsetters, they're the early adopters. Teens follow their older siblings who are the true trend setters. There's no way a 13 year old determines whats popular, it is older 18-30 cool people who are the true trend setters. Rappers and pop icons for the most part, there are no 13 year old pop icons.

yongelee··on Ask HN: What are your predictions in technology for 2016?
1) Super bleeding edge technologies like Virtual reality / augmented reality doesn't take off or become popular, still viewed as 'super high tech'

2) The majority of the population still does not know / appreciate what it takes to make a website

3) Computer science grads are pissed because they can't find jobs despite constantly reading news about how there is a shortage of programmer jobs

4) Native iOS / Android is still dominant, Javascript hybrid apps are only used by technically advanced companies

5) JavaScript loses popularity, MEAN stack loses popularity but alternatives aren't appearing, just more criticism of the javascript frameworks

yongelee··on Show HN: Search for an Instagram user's most liked pictures
Hey ya'll, Im a noob programmer who just made his first web app that can be shown to the public! This app shows you the most liked pictures of an instagram user! It only returns the most recent 500 images though, for the sake of time.

I would love to hear some feedback about this! I also have my github link here https://github.com/yongelee/instagramWebApp

Any 3d software is more than capable of creating perfect physics simulations in real time. I'm not sure what you mean by matching reality but in a physics simulation the only reality that matters is the virtual simulation, which can be done perfectly inside a program.

yongelee··on The Universe Is Made of Mathematics
Concepts can indeed exist outside physical brain matter. Such as the concept of math. The idea that 1+1=2 does not need a physical human brain to exist. If humans never existed the concept of math would still exist "beyond space and time". Abstract thoughts cannot exist outside space and time for human comprehension but those same concepts do not need humans to exist.

I have an XPS 13 2015 version but it came with Windows 8. I want to try out ubuntu on it to see if it'll run better. Is yours touch screen? If so, how is it working?

Also is there a difference between the windows xps 13 and the developers edition? I heard the developers edition is cheaper, but with less powerful hardware?
