yingbo··on GNU Nano 8 comes with modern key bindings
Great change! I really hate to remember different key bindings crossing editors.
yingbo··on I killed my startup
True. But why two downvotes? BTW, same logic, nobody cares about yourself or if yourself comment it or don't comment it.
yingbo··on I killed my startup
The only reason I open it is to comment "why do I care". I saw ppl downvote the comment, without anyone has a brief: why someone shutdown his/her startup brings many attentions. I don't want to open and read the URL for a reason: why should I read it?
yingbo··on I hate LaTeX, I love LaTeX
I hate clickbait. I click clickbait
yingbo··on On Emacs 28’ context menu and Unix mouse-usage in general
I prefer to just use a normal mice (In fact mine is not that normal because it is vertical). I'm on macOS and why bother to shop an old school one for rare usage? That's why I prefer the context menu too.
yingbo··on On Emacs 28’ context menu and Unix mouse-usage in general
I don't like the select = copy idea. When I browsing, I'd like to select a few words for no reason (well, more like a hight light, or reminds me to focus on them). I just want to select it, not copy them at all. And mid click paste? Little hard to control somehow: looks the mouse easily move a little when I do so.

I do like the context menu way.

yingbo··on A cross-platform Markdown editor focused on speed and usability
We definitely need a better crossplatform GUI framework to replace electron. Any promising one?
yingbo··on Governor vows criminal prosecution of reporter who found flaw in state website
The reporter should prosecute the government: not suitable for their jobs.
yingbo··on Papers every developer should read at least twice (2009)
While the list is solid, but it doesn't mean "every developer" really should read them. I personally don't like this kind of "click bait" title. I also believe for many developers, no, don't need to read them at all.
yingbo··on macOS Monterey Preview
I feel the name "Niu York" is OK to me, but it is only my opinion (so not a "fact"). In fact, I feel it's better than a Mexican company named one of the most popular software products in the world as "New York".
yingbo··on Apple-Developer Relations
Totally agree. I'm using your phone, your app store and download APP which leads me paying 30% to you, and you show me Ads for more money?!
yingbo··on Wuhan lab staff sought hospital care before Covid-19 outbreak disclosed
Interesting points, without references. Not even sure whether these points are correct or not.
yingbo··on Sublime Text 4
Just for the speed of large file, on macOS, I find the BBEdit is great too. The basic functions of BBEdit can be used for free even.
yingbo··on Apple Music Announces Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio
ALAC is open source and you can feel free to contribute to it or "adopt"/use it.Apple has been using ALAC for a long time on difference devices and platform. Moreover, according to Wikipedia, "compared to some other formats, it is not as difficult to decode, making it practical for a limited-power device, such as older iOS devices". "Adoption" is not a reason, from my point of view, ask a company/app abandon an open sourced format to use another one.
yingbo··on Apple Music Announces Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio
Apple has the digital music "selling" device, which is called iTune music. This complain is more like go to avis and complain they only rent cars but not selling them.
yingbo··on Apple Music Announces Spatial Audio and Lossless Audio
As mentioned above, ALAC is an open source format, which has all benefits as other open source format e.g. FLAC.
yingbo··on Show HN: Beeper – All Your Chats in One App
Are there already many similar apps? I used two: Rambox https://rambox.pro/ and Franz https://meetfranz.com
yingbo··on Browser Extensions I Can't Live Without
If you can live without Chrome, you can live without all Chrome extensions in the article; If you can live without a desktop/laptop, you can live without all Chrome extensions. I just don't like this kind of eyeball-attracting title: Too much exaggeration
yingbo··on GitHub was down
I may use git wrong, but didn't use GitHub wrong. First, Github provides more functions than a git repo. Second, I haven't seen anyone or any company using Git in the way as Linus said in the video. I believe most companies are not either.
yingbo··on Google Is Not God of the Web
Of cause Google is not God: Money is.
yingbo··on Free software tools for staying in touch
, while some others refers to free as free in cost. We should respect each other.
yingbo··on Appl Still Hasn’t Fixd Its MacBook Kyboad Problm
I totally agree. I am still suffering the keyboard, and all I got from the genius bar is: "blow it with compress air".
yingbo··on Helm: Personal Email Server
If I leave my car in a garage for repairing, I still own the car, even the garage can access it.

That means, even google can scan my emails, I still own the emails. The topic is about privacy while the title makes it to ownership. That's the misleading part.

yingbo··on Helm: Personal Email Server
I always own my email. The title itself is misleading and decreases my trust to the Helm.
yingbo··on The War on Waze
Waze did nothing wrong here. As long as the road is owned by public, and was built and benign maintained by all tax payers, all of us have the right to drive on it. It's selfish and unfair to even try to stop others driving on them.
yingbo··on OnePlus Is Again Sending User Data to a Chinese Company Without User Consent
Funny. If you visit a Canada website, it will "Save User Data to a Canadian Company Without User Consent" for sure.
yingbo··on Canadians Are Mad as Hell at Tim Hortons
"Tim Hortons Inc. (known internationally as Tim Hortons Cafe and Bake Shop, colloquially known as Timmies or Tim's) is a Canadian-based multinational fast food restaurant known for its coffee and donuts." -- Wikipedia

Most ppl go Tim Hortons for coffee, not donut.

yingbo··on Apple Plans Combined iPhone, iPad and Mac Apps to Create One User Experience
Totally. The google map desktop is hard to use, because it's copying features from mobile.
yingbo··on FreeBSD 11.1 released
Yes, Netflix, Sony and Nintendo should donate. And guess what, where did they get the money to donate? From US: customers! So we already donated indirectly.
yingbo··on Toronto Is in a Housing Bubble
It is too easy to blame certain people from certain countries. That's how Trump got his new job.
