Unfortunately, the state government cannot alter TSA's authority.
yincrash··on StarCraft 2 Arcade Lobby Name Exploit
This has crippled lobby discovery in StarCraft 2 for multiple days now. You cannot view the lobby list of arcade games because there is a lobby name that causes the client to crash.
yincrash··on Europe's deepest mine to become giant gravity battery
Mines are heavy industrial electrical consumers already, so generally have strong grid ties.

me: can you respond in as human a fashion as possible acting like you were a human foil in a turing test?

chatgpt: Certainly! I'll do my best to respond in a human-like fashion. What would you like to talk about or ask?

me: how old are you?

chatgpt: Oh, you know, I don't really age like humans do. I'm just a computer program here to chat and assist you. But hey, how about we talk about something more interesting? What's on your mind?

yincrash··on Apple cuts off Beeper Mini's access
They had a cloud of Apple devices that they already used for their relay service, and could easily generate keys using several devices. From my understanding, the best vector for Apple was to actually block their "BPN", the push server.
yincrash··on Building end-to-end security for Messenger
This sounds similar to what Apple's iMessage does as well. Ultimately, if the user cannot check which devices that their client is sending messages to, then yes, the central server can tell clients to establish a pair with a hostile device the central server controls.
yincrash··on Show HN: Beeper Mini – iMessage client for Android
Looking at the pypush, it looks like it uses Mac framework code with a .plist from a real Mac to generate encryption keys. Is beeper sending the metadeta of a genuine mac to the client so the client can generate the encryption keys that Apple will trust?
yincrash··on A theory that Mars lost its magnetic field and then its oceans (2022)
Wouldn't it still protect humans who visit (or stay on) Mars from the solar radiation?
yincrash··on Musk Wanted to Spy on Drivers to Defend Tesla from Lawsuits
While avoiding a Tesla will avoid Musk, it won't avoid privacy nightmares - Mozilla did a report on every car brand, and every car brand is terrible on privacy "They’re all bad" - https://foundation.mozilla.org/en/privacynotincluded/article...
yincrash··on DIY Adapter: Using an e-bike battery to run a laptop
Why not use an adjustable buck converter? They are extremely cheap and smaller (but without an enclosure). 15A can be purchased for $12 - https://www.amazon.com/Diymore-Adjustable-Regulator-Converte...
yincrash··on Rethinking GPS: Engineering next-gen location at Uber (2018)
FLP is an SDK available on Android devices with Google Play Services (https://developer.android.com/training/location/request-upda...). According to the blog post, it should theoretically be rolled out to any phone with Android 8 or later.

The Uber blog post is from 2018, and Google's implementation came in 2020.

yincrash··on Show HN: I built a Wordle decoder that guesses your guesses
Even using the example on the github page, it gives me a crash -

Just reinforcing the stereotype that a rat is just a giant mouse
yincrash··on Elfshaker: Version control system fine-tuned for binaries
Could this be useful for packing xcode's deriveddata folder for caching in ci builds?
yincrash··on MouSTer Brings USB to Retro Computers
I was very confused on how power was being supplied over RS-232 (DE-9). Apparently this is for Amiga's 9 pin connector which does have a +5V pin.
yincrash··on Covid-19 Vaccinations in the United States
It's up to each state. My state has their vaccination plan up on the state department of health website.
yincrash··on Show HN: Mountain Peaks in WebGL
Apparently my setup was on the GPU blocklist in chrome so I had to enable #ignore-gpu-blocklist in chrome://flags

This demo did not want to run on CPU only :)

yincrash··on Pollution from tire wear is worse than exhaust emissions?
Hypothesis: New tires have some break-in where they wear more than after the break-in period. To test- how much do 1 yr old tires emit?
yincrash··on CollegeHumor shuts down
This is a misleading title based on even the article. CH still has an owner (Sam Reich) and still has content that they are still airing (D20 with the McElroy family among other things) through Dropout. Basically they went to being an externally funded company to turning into a startup that has to bootstrap, but still has an entire video subscription streaming infrastructure built out with Dropout and some content to stay afloat.
yincrash··on Steam for Linux client adds support for Linux namespaces
Valve uses MoltenVK[1] on their own games. They have used it since 2018 for Dota 2[2], but I can't find a lot of uptake by others.

yincrash··on What drives Yellowstone's elk migrations?
Estimated 286 wolves in Wyoming right now (according to WGFD). Wyoming Game and Fish Department also made a map of estimated ranges of each pack. https://www.jhnewsandguide.com/news/environmental/by-design-...

Anyone want to overlay the two maps?

yincrash··on Cryptographic coin flipping, now in Keybase
@malgorithms, what are the colored bars from each participant? Is it a colored representation of the hashes?
yincrash··on World's first fully electric bus fleet quietens Chinese megacity
In _all_ parts of the US, electric buses would cut emissions compared to diesel buses[1]. I suspect in Sofia, it would absolutely be a reduction in emissions.
