yes_but_no··on Stacked PRs are now live on GitHub
also jj absorb is amazing, it will move your changes to nearest relevant changes so addressing a thing that might effect different pr s is pretty easy

Floating panes seems not possible, or are they?
yes_but_no··on Claude Code: Now in Beta in Zed
If you are already familiar with Vim bindings is Helix's object then action really worth that much?
yes_but_no··on Ask HN: How Can I Make My Front End React to Database Changes in Real-Time?
You might be interested in checking out perspective[0] they server side `tables` which propagate changes to frontend charts by sending row diffs.

yes_but_no··on Show HN: Devil Mode: A twisted Emacs key translator for modifier-free editing
Do you mind sharing your qmk config? I'm using homerow for modifiers and combos for symbols, barely using any layers. Though idea of ditching homerow modifiers for layers not crazy since there is no arbitrary modifier need (cmd-c t etc can be thrown into a layer)
yes_but_no··on Modern Mono
Few more fonts that lesser known, but worth to take a look imo - Basically a Mono https://experi.mentallydesigned.com/type/bam/ - Messina Sans https://www.luzi-type.ch/messina-sans - PP Fraktion Mono https://experi.mentallydesigned.com/type/bam/
yes_but_no··on Yet another keyboard post, or, introducing ErgoNICE
You can check unified orthos like planck. But imo selling point of these keebs is comfort not speed.
yes_but_no··on Yet another keyboard post, or, introducing ErgoNICE
Are you familiar with the Ignore Mod Interrupt option of qmk? That solved that issue for me, depending on your typing style it might solve for you too.

Another option is moving those keys to bottom row, or moving layers to combos to free thumb keys to for mods or move mods to combos as one shots.

yes_but_no··on KDE runs on the Apple M2 with full GPU acceleration
Some ppl have been saying reason macs doesn't support 4k 120hz using thunderbolt to hdmi 2.1 cables is a software limitation, I wonder if linux on macbook solves that
yes_but_no··on Bun: Fast JavaScript runtime, transpiler, and NPM client written in Zig
gratz, what was using Zig like? What kind of problems you had?
yes_but_no··on Show HN: Muse 2.0 with local-first sync
I really like the idea but even "How Muse boards work" board lagging on my iPad pro 10.5 and I don't enjoy the pen feel. I think default notes app or even better Concepts app (which is another infinite canvas app and doesn't lag) have a much better pen feeling.

Still subbed tho.

yes_but_no··on Show HN: Bike – macOS Native Outliner
When apps use text based single file as data source are they flushing the whole file when user makes an update?

If I add or move a line does Bike rewrites the whole file and updates the in-mem sorted-dict op mentioned?

yes_but_no··on Tao of Node – Design, Architecture and Best Practices
Great article. I also suggest watching Casey M. recent video[0] about Conways Law. How organization in your company determines what you can/will do and how organization of your code follows the same principles.

Starting with just the handlers and introducing layers as you make sure its time is great way.

yes_but_no··on Ask HN: Why aren't there any real alternatives to Electron?
At this point its hard to come up with interesting arguments. I don't like electron as much as the next guy, but if you ever tried to develop a desktop app you can easily appreciate Electron for what it is.

Anyway heres some other choices might be viable these days: - Flutter desktop https://flutter.dev/multi-platform/desktop - Jetbrains Compose https://www.jetbrains.com/lp/compose-mpp/

IMO immediate mode guis should be option as well, like imgui, egui. (But afaik you basically throw accessibility out of the window)

yes_but_no··on Ask HN: I don't know text editing shortcuts. Should I learn Vim/Emacs/My IDE?
Most of the editors have "good enough" support to be convenient for Vim shortcuts, which makes it safe investment I think
yes_but_no··on KDE: A Nice Tiling Environment and a Surprisingly Awesome DE
I think herbsluftwm[0] fits better to this description than the other tiling wms, with its frame and virtual monitor features. [0]https://herbstluftwm.org/
yes_but_no··on How to pick a good monitor for software development
I'm stuck between that monitor and 21:9 34" ultrawide. Any opinions?

yes_but_no··on Ask HN: Favorite live coding channels for intermediate/advanced topics?
Yuri Artyukh, mostly threejs, webgl stuff https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDo7RTzizoOdPjY8A-xDR7g , although I'm not experienced enough to judge if its actually intermediate.

Jon Gjengset, Rust (internals, data structure, protocol impls) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_iD0xppBwwsrM9DegC5cQQ

aarthifical, not really live-coding but a game devlog with interesting ideas https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtEwVJZABCd0tels2KIpKGQ

yes_but_no··on Show HN: Writing a simple, event-driven, extensible, rich text editor framework
Cool project. Would love to see some commonly requested feature examples, such as autocomplete (for tagging, mentions)

On a related note, I think biggest contender in this area is prosemirror but for the most people its api feels too low level-y. A more opinionated framework built on top of it with the support of common features would be nice (maybe tiptap/remirror gets close but they are tied to vue/react)

yes_but_no··on Kafka without ZooKeeper
I believe NATS Streaming[0] and upcoming Nats Jetstream[1] could be more relevant to those who looking for a Kafka alternative. They offer persistent messages, at-least-once delivery similar to Kafka.

yes_but_no··on Guide: Full Wayland Setup for Linux
Also better gesture support for touchpads
yes_but_no··on The Kotlin Foundation
I would, main reason being calling Java from Kotlin is seamless. It makes most things easier by being expression oriented and having less verbose yet familiar syntax also saner type system. So you can just use it as better Java.

If you want to go further you can also use other nice features like suspend functions, hot/cold channels, sealed classes.

yes_but_no··on Ask HN: Recommended books and papers on distributed systems?
Not a book nor a paper, but MIT has published their recent Distr. Systems lectures[0] on youtube. Haven't finished it yet but it touches on papers that stood the test of times.
