The fantastic thing about this project is that they've open sourced the code [1]. With a little help from NOAA and some work with the GRIB data format [2], I was quickly able to build this into an customized interactive museum exhibit that's in two science centers now.

We could never have afforded to build this from scratch. Open Source to the rescue, once again.

Is Dashlane "for Teams" comparable to LastPass Enterprise?

Paying LastPass (Enterprise) user here too. I hope the extension gets a complete overhaul. I've experienced dataloss multiple times due to inconsistent interface issues. Support just shrugs and points me to 3rd party backup solutions. I see the UX problems as critical, but yes...just below security.

Do LogMeIn users have a feeling as to whether this is a good thing? Will they bring any visual polish, or UX consistency to the jumble that is Last Pass?

It looks like they are purposefully ceding the small-fry market to Modulus[1] and maybe even Digital Ocean[2]. Part of what you're buying here is access to the Meteor team and best practices at scale. From what I've heard that's something it's harder to get from Modulus.

Irving, Texas is not typical of what most consider the deep south. It's part of the DFW metroplex which is in the nation's fourth largest population center[1], and it's in a county that went 57% for Obama in the 2012 election[2]. So let's just be careful about painting wide swaths of the country with an singular view.

Yes, this has a very real likelihood to impact the roll out of the technology.

Yes, you totally can, but I found running one command:

so much quicker (in the short term and long term) than reading a myriad of tutorials and then bashing my head against this configuration of several products for multiple weeks to get what Meteor provides as part of a single maintained and updated system.

It does run in a browser of sorts (http://electron.atom.io/), just not the browser, you're using to read this.

It's possibly more fair to compare it with an IDE, not simply a text editor. WebStorm as a download is 131 MB. Not as big, but in a similar class.

Regardless of what you think about the current reactions, they are not solely the result of someone feeling bad. They are the reactions to the murder of 9 innocent people by a white supremacist professing a genocidal desire. Now, whether this justifies this action or not is a different matter.

I use 1Password for personal/family stuff. It's a much better interface and has many fewer bugs.

I manage a Last Pass Enterprise instance at work. I love/hate it. The interface is terrible and buggy. However, it's the only tool I've found to manage passwords across many users (some medium to non-technical) who need access to shared accounts within an organization. 1Password doesn't really do this, and sharing vaults over Dropbox doesn't really cut it. Despite all the bug pain, it's so much better than what we were doing before, sharing passwords via email and other embarrassing methods.

How can there really only be one company doing what LastPass Enterprise does? There must be other systems that I just can't find in my research. Any recommendations for other managed password stores for organizations?

The variation between the middle "meh" feeling and the next level up is way too large of a emotional jump. There's a bunch of room between "no arguments" and "we had a blast." It might still be fine to have 5 or 6 detents in the slider, but those descriptions really threw me off.
