wseqyrku··on Goodbye Google
When the both ends of your platform continue buying and selling you tend to not stand in the way. I personally can't believe these stupid ads sell anything at all. Since they call it a 'business model' software people don't think about it too much.
wseqyrku··on Ask HN: As AI becomes more capable what's the value of knowledge?
Yeah, I wonder why they taught us arithmetic when calculators invented, we would have been totally fine being vegetables
wseqyrku··on AlphaGenome Atlas: a high-resolution map of human DNA
I'm convinced AI labs are absolutely hallucinating with their random names. It doesn't even mean anything anymore. Can we go back to numbers?
wseqyrku··on Ask HN: How do you manage skills files?
I usually use this technology called Shift+Delete
wseqyrku··on De-Brainrot Vacations
Come on HN is not social media, it doesn't even show cat memes
wseqyrku··on De-Brainrot Vacations
Turns out t-breaks works for social media too if you admit it's an addiction that it is. When you are in it day in and day out you don't realize how much time it's costing you without the benefits that you signed up for at the beginning.
wseqyrku··on A/I shuts down
I see you get your news from the internet.
wseqyrku··on How I feel about AI
> Both issues (power concentration and misaligned AI) are very valid concerns

Sure, those who want you to believe this are the ones making money off of it right now in the face of the issues that exist today, so let's worry about terminators while everything goes to shit irl. That's the distraction I'm talking about.

wseqyrku··on I Feel about AI
This terminator BS is a distraction from the actual malice that AI enables. Misinformation, fake news and human sounding bots all over the web, just to name a few, are the ones that you should be afraid of, and that doesn't need any kind of superintelligence at all.
wseqyrku··on LLMs as a Cognitive Virus
> the framing comes across to me as a bit inflammatory and uncharitable

Nah, sometimes you should just come out say it. Those who get offended need to hear it more than anyone else.

wseqyrku··on Cloud in a Bottle: making self-hosting accessible to everyone
> Docker has poor tooling for network level security between the containers

Aha so LLMs have better tooling for network level security, cloudboy?

wseqyrku··on VC isn't VC anymore
Speaking of accountability, if you look around and see the tech enshitified you have no one else to blame but the biggest investors in the vicinity. Like it or not they are building your future and more often than not it's just a byproduct of whatever the hell they think they're doing, not a deliberate milestone, which makes it even worse.
wseqyrku··on How do you guys keep up with the most cost-effective AI models?
> I see lots of post on here discussing the most cost-effective models for coding and people swapping around a lot.

Could you link some of those here?

wseqyrku··on AI Can Make You Suck Faster Too
Wow, that painful AI aided review process, it's like you are computering with eyes closed.
wseqyrku··on Apple caught off guard by AI demand for Mac Mini and Mac Studio
Sorry to interrupt. Magic Mouse. Thank you for your attention.
wseqyrku··on Apple caught off guard by AI demand for Mac Mini and Mac Studio
They have no "brand" left with all around hostile behavior wherever they can. The only brand they currently are so proud of is being more expensive than everyone else just because. It's been always a hardware company that doesn't even build their own hardware. Anyone can do that. Call up your investors.
wseqyrku··on Apple caught off guard by AI demand for Mac Mini and Mac Studio
is this a manufactured demand meme
wseqyrku··on Who Are We Now?
I've come to believe that "agentic programming" is modeled after how a typical CEO treat the employees below them and now they are turning it into a programming paradigm. They're even trying to apply the same patterns of optimization, e.g. if you modularize your code, you can run more agents in parallel! Yay.
wseqyrku··on California lawmakers unanimously pass Linux exemption from age-verification law
An OS should not be assumed connected to "collect" anything in the first place.

(had to rewrite my slightly angry comment earlier, this was basically my point.)

wseqyrku··on The internet is kind of a predatory cesspit now
Tech has gotten better, but people yeah, downward spiral to the bottom of hell, sadly. Hard to be not a cynic these days.
wseqyrku··on The internet is kind of a predatory cesspit now
I have developed this clickbait allergy that I just won't read an article if the title doesn't adequately describe the post even if I'm interested. If it ends with ellipsis you don't even need to read the title (yes, it's almost always intentional).

There is probably a catalog of dark-patterns for the titles somewhere, but you can usually tell.

If you (try to) read the news you can get good at it very fast. It's amazing how they twist and bend words together to leave an effect on you even if you are just scrolling.

wseqyrku··on California lawmakers unanimously pass Linux exemption from age-verification law
How Linux is relevant to age-verification again? What was the question exactly?

Lawmakers unanimously are going to be sleeping when it gets dark at night.

wseqyrku··on Humanity has the debate about AI consciousness backwards
I can't tell if this is slop science or science slop.
wseqyrku··on Wikinews
I don't think it's that. Ever since google news went to shit I rely on wikipedia to read the news and I was surprised that wikinews was actually a thing and it was discontinued for .. this? My first guess was that it's because they don't have control over it as much as the "official" news outlets. So they just shut it down. It's important because the news is actually where things happen for the majority of people, this is why propaganda works afterall.
wseqyrku··on Wikinews
"the main cause of Wikinews's lack of success was that the wiki community was unable to gain first-hand knowledge of events or communicate with relevant people"
wseqyrku··on Visualizing Binary Files
I would like to see the CFG visualized for executable files. I imagine a recursive descent parser would resemble a spiral?
wseqyrku··on Andreessen Horowitz is investing billions into a bleak future
> Some have a thesis. Some have rules

You know I didn't just come out and say that. I actually liked Ben and his character (who doesn't, right?). Let's just say I got disillusioned about all of them in the correct order.

Talk is so cheap you wouldn't believe.

wseqyrku··on Andreessen Horowitz is investing billions into a bleak future
You think you "cope" and are being resilient, but enough people doing that actually leads to the said bleak future, at which point it doesn't matter who's to blame.
wseqyrku··on Andreessen Horowitz is investing billions into a bleak future
All investors do this, they don't really have an idea of "the future" they want to build. They just "find something they can throw money at". Their words, not mine.
wseqyrku··on I Just Want to Search
When was the last time you saw an ads-esque box and be like I am so glad you shoved it into my face! I guess Never at least if you are reading this.

More often than not you know exactly what you are looking for, you're not browsing to see what's out there. The systems should optimize for that instead of whatever this is.
