world2vec··on Spymarks, Not Watermarks
Way offtopic but I like the light/dark mode of that website with several very sensible choices.
world2vec··on ZuckOff Is a Free App That Sees Meta Glasses Before They See You
In the novel "The Mountain in the Sea" (great read, very pertinent as well for the discussion of AGI and what is consciousness), an "abglanz" is like a digital identity shield that hides a person's face behind a shifting weird pattern of colours. I wonder how far off we are from everyone just retreating into higher privacy settings and opt out.
world2vec··on GLM Built Its Own Inference Infrastructure
Yeah that's what I already do. Fable writes the plan and checks things at certain milestones. Otherwise it does get lost indeed.
world2vec··on How GLM built its own inference infrastructure
It's not my main model (that would be Fable 5.1 Extra) but it's been doing agent-driven search and optimisation of a cross-trading ranking model (it's for work).
world2vec··on How GLM built its own inference infrastructure
1 billion tokens a day?!! I've done a lot of work these past 2 weeks with GLM-5.3. Like, a lot. And I've just passed 300 million tokens in total.

Can I ask where are you using all those tokens?

world2vec··on Giving up on smart rings
People wear wedding rings but take them off for pull up bars and so on. But a fitness tracking device you need to take off to... Do some fitness exercises... Is not a smart idea in my book.
world2vec··on Australia 'on the same page' as Canada as it seeks deeper EU alliance
An "expanded" Schengen Area that crosses the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and brings Canada, Australia (and Japan, maybe?) into the fold would be an incredible thing. I'm all for it.
world2vec··on Show HN: An e-ink frame that hears birds and draws them as 1800s illustrations
I do recommend a decent pair of binoculars and the Merlin Bird ID app.
world2vec··on Hitachi launches CO2 heat pump water heaters with solar-friendly tariff controls
Same in Portugal: a "tarifa" can mean a price charged for a rendered service or a tax on imported products.
world2vec··on Stockfish 19
Same. Probably a few if-then statements would be enough to beat me :'(
world2vec··on On the Navier–Stokes Millennium Prize Problem
"While unlikely, we cannot rule out that de-identified data derived from their usage of our products helped improve our models."

There you go, the suspicion of the "concurrent work" (https://cims.nyu.edu/%7Etristanb/statement.pdf) mathematicians might not be that unfounded after all...

world2vec··on Mistral raises €3B
"Pax Sinica", Chinese Peace
world2vec··on Navier-Stokes – Tristan Buckmaster [pdf]
Buckmaster is actually implying that OpenAI spied on his chat logs and tried to speedrun his work and then tried to remove his co-author because he's an Anthropic employee?
world2vec··on Ask HN: Why were OpenAI, Claude, and Grok simultaneously down?
Claude Code seems totally fine for me.
world2vec··on Pre-Release of Polars 2.0
There's no way SQL is more unreadable than polars. IMO it's the other way around.
world2vec··on Japan halves speed limit to 30km/h on all narrow city streets
Good. Everywhere in the cities the speed limit in residential areas should be 30km/h and 60km/h for everything else. No need for higher speeds in dense urban environments.
world2vec··on A Selection of Los Alamos Rolodex Business Cards
Seems some of them would get the key contact details "clipped" by the rolodex itself. Maybe a good design would put the phone number and address at the top.
world2vec··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
The labs are clearly training for the benchmark.
world2vec··on Gemini 3.8 Flash and 3.8 Flash Cyber
I mean no offense but these pelicans are a bit tiresome and a very meaningless benchmark. There's no real difference between any of these svgs across models and model versions anymore.
world2vec··on I turned my security cameras into an automatic bird identification system
Love that documentary.
world2vec··on I turned my security cameras into an automatic bird identification system
My first ever "e2e" ML project during early covid quarantine was a crude vision model to detect pigeons on my balcony (and pigeons only) and play a loud random sound. It almost worked sometimes.
world2vec··on Microduck
1 hour according to the spec sheet. Would be nice if it knew battery was running out and "sat" on a wireless charger by itself.
world2vec··on Tim Curry has died
My wife and I adore "Rocky Horror Picture Show".

RIP absolute legend.

world2vec··on Building a backyard office, the build and cost breakdown
$20k is way too much money for that.
world2vec··on Being ambitious and being a dad
>"This sucks. I am ambitious: I wake up every morning with a burning fire in my stomach to build awesome things."

And then his company is an AI slop no-code website generator...

world2vec··on Incident with Github.com [resolved]
Geez, sorry that the paid service my company paid for is down and I can't do my work.
world2vec··on Pi coding agent: config folder is out of place on Linux
I keep getting the Unicorn or 404.
world2vec··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?
I can't relate. Opus 5 and Fable 5 are the absolute best. But I keep the models in a tight leash and read and rewrite all comments and documents, don't allow them anywhere near any git commands, etc, etc.

Fable 5 specifically, has done so much for me that previous models were nowhere near.

world2vec··on Why does Opus 5 feel worse to work with?
I built my own skill to somewhat follow the Simplified Technical English guidelines (loosely adapted to my work context)
