wordofx··on California overtakes Japan to become the world's fourth largest economy
Why?
wordofx··on Google contract prevented Motorola from setting Perplexity as default assistant
No they changed their development process to do it behind closed doors and release the code after final release.
wordofx··on Google contract prevented Motorola from setting Perplexity as default assistant
Android is hardly open source if it’s developed behind closed doors and final version released. It’s pretending.
wordofx··on Show HN: I built an AI that turns GitHub codebases into easy tutorials
I would find this comment more interesting if it didn’t dismiss the project just because you didn’t find it valuable.
wordofx··on JavaScript Views, the Hard Way – A Pattern for Writing UI
HN is static data. It doesn’t update. Re-rendering a user name 20 times doesn’t matter.
wordofx··on Leaked data reveals Israeli govt campaign to remove pro-Palestine posts on Meta
> Hamas has proposed multiple times long term ceasefires (10 years)

Hamas has broken ever cease fire since they took power. There was a ceasefire in place when they attacked Israel.

wordofx··on Leaked data reveals Israeli govt campaign to remove pro-Palestine posts on Meta
Yeah still not flagged. Nice bias HN.
wordofx··on New urinal designs prevent 265,000 gallons of urine splashing onto the floor
Since when is this a new design? Looks the same as a lot of existing designs.
wordofx··on You might not need WebSockets
Tried it on a 800mb file. Single request.
wordofx··on You might not need WebSockets
Can load a video into a video tag in chrome. Press play and pause. See it makes a single request and buffers the whole video.
wordofx··on You might not need WebSockets
> If your HTTP server provides and supports the appropriate headers and you’re serving supported file types, then it absolutely is true.

No. When you play a file in the browser with a video tag. It requests the file. It doesn’t ask for a range. It does use the range if you seek it, or you write the JavaScript to fetch based on a range. That’s why if you press play and pause it buffers the whole video. Only if you write the code yourself can you partially buffer a while like YouTube does.

wordofx··on You might not need WebSockets
It’s not true because throwing a video file as a source on video tag has no information about the file being requested until the headers are pushed down. Hell back in 2005 Akamai didn’t even support byte range headers for partial content delivery, which made resuming videos impossible, I believe they pushed out the update across their network in 06 or 07.
wordofx··on How University Students Use Claude
It’s not a wide spread “problem”. It’s just education lagging behind technology.
wordofx··on How much do you think it costs to make a pair of Nike shoes in Asia?
The quality they export is higher than the quality they have in China. Thankfully there are standards that must be met for exported cars.
wordofx··on Rusty Cascading Style Sheets – Another CSS Preprocessor
It’s a joke…
wordofx··on How much do you think it costs to make a pair of Nike shoes in Asia?
> Today, China is competitive with or ahead of America in key technology areas, including nuclear power, AI, EVs, and batteries.

I can’t tell if you’re brainwashed by propaganda or just spreading propaganda.

China is great at making things flashy. But the quality things like EVs is low. The battery quality is not good. The promise of long range cars is often 30% of the promise. Cars leaking. Rusting like American made cars.

wordofx··on PostgreSQL Full-Text Search: Fast When Done Right (Debunking the Slow Myth)
Because the vast majority of people on HN or in the real world don’t need to scale beyond 10 concurrent users. It’s insane how much infrastructure script kiddies add to their projects when it could be done in the database and scale well.
wordofx··on Show HN: Browser MCP – Automate your browser using Cursor, Claude, VS Code
I wish people would stop using CF. It’s just making the internet worse.
wordofx··on E.U. Prepares Major Penalties Against X
Spreading Russian conspiracy theories now?
wordofx··on A Man Out to Prove How Dumb AI Still Is
Just copied your prompt and it handled it just fine.
wordofx··on Tell HN: Announcing tomhow as a public moderator
If 2 people end up in a civilised debate. It’s not uncommon for people to flag and downvote the opinion they disagree with even if the opinion is valid or backed up with facts. Feelings get too hurt here.
wordofx··on Show HN: Nue – Apps lighter than a React button
No. Back when supporting ie 9 we had tables with a million rows and dozens of columns and it runs fine.
wordofx··on Show HN: Nue – Apps lighter than a React button
The videos. The very first video. Animations like this are done to hide the fact it’s slow by hiding it behind a fancy animation. Used to do this when we were stuck on 3g connections…
wordofx··on Show HN: Nue – Apps lighter than a React button
The animation makes it look so incredibly slow…
wordofx··on Utah becomes first US state to ban fluoride in its water
He’s watched too much simpsons.
wordofx··on Show HN: We made an MCP server so Cursor can debug Node.js on its own
In cursor you can whitelist commands. So I white list npm run. Then tell cursor to upgrade a dependency and run npm run build and if there’s errors. Fix the first error and repeat. Once the build is successful, run npm test and fix 1 test at a time.

Takes some learning but once you figure it out it’s insanely powerful.

wordofx··on iPhone users can now set WhatsApp as their default calling and texting app
Why would anyone use Google photos to begin with?
wordofx··on Show HN: We made an MCP server so Cursor can debug Node.js on its own
I used to run into dead loops until I changed the way I prompt cursor. Asking it to focus on 1 error at a time massively improves the success rate. Had an old project in node 10 project that hadn’t been touched since ~2017 and after several attempts with cursor. Asked if to fix 1 issue at a time until it moved from node 10>12>14…>22 and after about 15 minutes it succeeded. That included updating all the dependencies and removing deprecated/dead/dropped packages and getting them to latest and updating Vue from 1 to 3.5
wordofx··on Monster Cables picked the wrong guy to threaten (2008)
Wow pretty sure that’s the first time I’ve read a nice polite legal letter shared that wasn’t threatening.
wordofx··on Debugging PostgreSQL More Easily
lol can’t imagine the messy systems people create if they like UUID.
