wordofx··on Charlie Kirk killed at event in Utah
Yes. You don’t want opinions you disagree with. Got it. Basically admitting you side with the assassin.
wordofx··on Charlie Kirk killed at event in Utah
You don’t need to take guns away to solve gun violence. He’s 100% right. Start dealing with crime. Stop allowing criminals into the country. Stop releasing criminals back onto the streets. Stop ignoring people with violent tendencies.
wordofx··on iPhone Air
Oh now it’s about a status symbol. So you can’t afford a status symbol and you’re upset? :(
wordofx··on iPhone Air
Awww you upset you can’t afford it?
wordofx··on Ex-WhatsApp cybersecurity head says Meta endangered billions of users
This does not prove that Meta does not have the ability to decrypt the messages.
wordofx··on Ex-WhatsApp cybersecurity head says Meta endangered billions of users
Meta/WA. Same thing. Might have worked at WhatsApp but FB still advertises based on conversation content.
wordofx··on Ex-WhatsApp cybersecurity head says Meta endangered billions of users
So much for that e2e encryption that HN claimed was so good and that META couldn’t possibly use what’s app messages to do advertising from.
wordofx··on Using Claude Code to modernize a 25-year-old kernel driver
I disagree with their CoC on AI. There are so many projects which are important and don’t let you contribute or make the barrier to entry so hard, and so you do best effort to raise a detailed bug description for it to sit there for 14 years or them to tell you to get fucked. So anyone who complains about AI isn’t worth the time and day and I support not getting paid as much if at all.
wordofx··on A staff engineer's journey with Claude Code
> Most users will just give a vague tasks like: "write a clone of Steam" or "create a rocket" and then they blame Claude Code.

This seems like half of HN with how much HN hates AI. Those who hate it or say it’s not useful to them seem to be fighting against it and not wanting to learn how to use it. I still haven’t seen good examples of it not working even with obscure languages or proprietary stuff.

wordofx··on Survey: a third of senior developers say over half their code is AI-generated
> because my corporate code base is a mess that doesn’t lend itself well to AI

What language? I picked up an old JS project that had several developers fail over weeks to upgrade to newer versions of react. But I got it done in a day by using AI to generate a ton of unit tests then loop an upgrade / test / build. Was 9 years out of date and it’s running in prod now with less errors than before.

Also upgraded rails 4 app to rails 8 over a few days.

Done other apps too. None of these are small. Found a few memory leaks in a C++ app that our senior “experts” who have spent 20 years doing c++ couldn’t find.

wordofx··on Claude Sonnet will ship in Xcode
Almost no one uses copilot unless they are not allowed to use anything else or don’t know any better. MS could have been a leader in this space but MS couldn’t understand why people didn’t like copilot but loved the competition.
wordofx··on Aspects of modern HTML/CSS you may not be familiar with
Unfortunately we are stuck with trash tailwind.
wordofx··on Neuralink 'Participant 1' says his life has changed
Things are only created or expanded if there is a return. Its that simple.
wordofx··on Will Smith's concert crowds are real, but AI is blurring the lines
I’m wondering at what point the minority are going to finally accept ai is here to stay.
wordofx··on Will Smith's concert crowds are real, but AI is blurring the lines
I thought Willy had disappeared into the shadows after his wife embarrassed him to the point he prob won’t step foot in public again…
wordofx··on What makes Claude Code so damn good
I have most of the tools setup so I can switch between them and test which is better. So far Amp and Claude Code are on top. GH Copilot is the worst. I know MS is desperately trying to copy its competitors but the reality is, they are just copying features. They haven’t solved the system prompts. So the outcomes are just inferior.
wordofx··on I'm too dumb for Zig's new IO interface
So zig isn’t a serious language. It’s just some trash apis thrown together.
wordofx··on I'm too dumb for Zig's new IO interface
Na. It’s flat out laziness. Don’t make excuses. Either write docs or stop worrying code.
wordofx··on FFmpeg 8.0
Wouldn’t be surprised if Theo did a video about investing in ffmpeg and how he revived it and has been consulting to the developers and we should bow down and praise him for resurrecting ffmpeg.
wordofx··on I forced every engineer to take sales calls and they rewrote our platform
PMs don’t help make good software.
wordofx··on Ask HN: Tell me about the best programmer you worked with
The piece of software that played nothing and forced us to download VLC or MPC??
wordofx··on ADHD drug treatment and risk of negative events and outcomes
And most people who claim to have ADHD don’t have ADHD. But apparently thinking you have ADHD makes you feel better about doing things you don’t enjoy.
wordofx··on Anthropic's CEO says in 3-6 months, AI will write 90% of the code (March 2025)
I would have to go searching and can’t be bothered. But there was a guy on Twitter earlier this year who said he had been wanting to create his own programming language for years and with AI he’s been doing it finally. I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called.
wordofx··on I let LLMs write an Elixir NIF in C; it mostly worked
This was built copy pasting results from chats? Not using an ide or cli like Claude Code or Amp? Why such a manual process. This isn’t 2023…
wordofx··on Streaming services are driving viewers back to piracy
If people stopped getting offended by literally anything. We wouldn’t have to deal with this bs.
wordofx··on GitHub is no longer independent at Microsoft after CEO resignation
This is such a typical HN low IQ comment.
wordofx··on GitHub is no longer independent at Microsoft after CEO resignation
Well now we know why GH is turning into a POS. They stopped working on GH a long time ago.
wordofx··on Perplexity is using stealth, undeclared crawlers to evade no-crawl directives
Good on perplexity.
wordofx··on 6 weeks of Claude Code
My AMP bill is less than Claude Code but I’m getting more work done.
wordofx··on 6 weeks of Claude Code
I don’t know why amp isn’t talked about more. It’s better than Claude code.
