It’s really quite annoying that companies have taken this “you can’t unsubscribe from service emails” approach and I wish this act would get a refresh 20 years later.

It’s really quite annoying that companies have taken this “you can’t unsubscribe from service emails” approach and I wish this act would get a refresh 20 years later.
If one wants to list the ingredients once, at least make it vertical and add some arrows:
butter -> soften
|
sugar v
brown sugar ---> beat
vanilla extract |
v
eggs ---> beat in one egg at a time
etc
Arrows point to a mixing point, plus an additional action. Reading it is simple: 1. First take the butter and soften
2. Then take the sugar/vanilla and beat it
3. Then add eggs one at a time.
I never have to move my eyes to the top of the instructions again, like you would have to do with a table where distinguishing each steps leads your eyes to follow the lines until the list.The only advantage of that table is that preparing two mixes at once is easier than this.
Non-monetized good apps are few and far between. One of which is actually related, by thai-language.com: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/thai-english-dictionary-tl/id7...
It's clean, it has whole sentences mixed in the vocabulary, it links phrases parts to their sub-definitions, and lets you paste a whole sentence at once, defining word by word.
One of my favorite apps. Updated 5 months ago.
It's fine, people joke and then move onto the next TikTok video.
Even before the iPhone I looked at the brand new 2G, no GPS, 240p screen, 1Mpx camera iPhone and laughed from my "old" 3G/VGA/GPS/2Mpx Windows Phone. Until I tried the iPhone and there was no going back.
I’d end it there.
Unless your parents are technologically illiterate, they will set it up as a device part of a family. That’s how they know.
This has its flaws, but that’s what we got now.
> using phone's camera to see who's using it
Most definitely not going to happen. Even if it did, it’s no worse than Face ID.
I wish I received that the first time I looked for NSFW content (at 11). I’m totally fine with this kind of warnings for kids.
I often use rg to search code across repositories so it's useful to have that regardless of grep and git
Overall though it's nice to see old screenshots even on my phone, but intentionally "taking a screenshot for the memory" feels weird as every one of my screens is boring on its own.
Commits link to their parent(s) until the initial commit. You can visualize a “branch” as a series of commits, but the same thing can exist without calling it a branch:
A -> B -> C —> Initial
Is that a branch? No. How about: /refs/heads/main = A
That’s a branch, and it looks exactly the same as a tag: /refs/tags/v1 = A
Neither a branch or a tag is “a series of commits” even if you think it does.I hope this means more will go to underdeveloped countries now. The African continent averages at 40 doses per 100 people while the rest of the world is at 154

The NYT’s visualization makes this painfully clear: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2021/world/covid-vaccina...
> 720p
Ok not too bad
> more than 15fps
I thought this was 2022, anything less than 24 is basically garbage and it’s pointless to even have 720p at that frame rate.
> Lots of packages in npm are broken in either CJS or ESM mode. And there's no way to tell without trying them.
I blame npm for allowing that to happen. I get that it’s technically a third party, but they never even checked that the file mentioned in `main` was included, even without a “postinstall” step.
They, together with node, could have built a tool that validates main/type/exports on publish, but no. There’s literally no way to validate ESM until you run them or use a full linter. The whole point of ESM was that it’s statically analyzable.
> Rome is a formatter, linter, bundler, and more for JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON, HTML, Markdown, and CSS.
> Rome is designed to replace Babel, ESLint, webpack, Prettier, Jest, and others.
Haven't seen it since.
> Parcel: The zero configuration build tool for JavaScript, CSS, HTML, TypeScript, React, images, SASS, SVG, Vue, libraries, Less, CoffeeScript, Node, Stylus, Pug, Electron, Elm, WebGL, extensions, GraphQL, MD
As long as you do the bare minimum for each target.
In the vast majority of times you should do absolutely nothing: It only becomes your fault if you touch it.
You can use ESM without issue in browsers, Node and using proper ESM bundlers like Rollup, as long as you don't expect `import 'a/b'` to arbitrarily load `./node_modules/a/b.js` or `./node_modules/a/b/index.js`
npm also keeps actively harming the community by not validating packages in any ways whatsoever, so everyone keeps pushing broken crap into the ecosystem.
That forum I signed up for in 2012? I don’t remember the name.
That Facebook group I joined in 2012? I still see the occasional post in the feed.
Also it’s vastly easier to find these communities in the first place. There’s no way to look for forums about a specific topic, if that exists at all.
For what reason? Are they planning to leave Gmail? That’s just about the only reason for an office to mandate a specific UI for email.
