That's crazy impressive. I tried working from home and was only ever productive if I worked till early in the morning. Daytime productivity was terrible with 2 little kids detracting me... perhaps my house is just too small.

So if I try http://zip.elevenbasetwo.com/?zip=1010
It gives: {"country": "US", "state": "MA", "city": "BRIMFIELD"}
Couples like to hang out with other couples, so there might be revenue potential in the idea as well...
Dude! You've got your whole life ahead of you, go make MORE mistakes, lots more.
Ultimately though don't give up. If you're not sure what you want to do, go get a job (any job) and go back to the drawing board.
Want a job? Just land yourself some interviews and when they ask for an explanation of the gap in your resume, just say "I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pursue [insert your story], in the end it didn't work out, but I learnt a ton and am excited about re-entering the workforce".
No 3G, not much storage space, lower resolution (as soon as Apple releases iPad's with retina display) and lack of an Apple logo make the Fire inferior, but with a much lower price it could make things interesting.
(mind you, how many Leonardo da Vinci's are there in the world?)
That solution would cost about 10-20 cents a month (unless you've got heaps of traffic, in which case you're hopefully making heaps of sales anyway...).

NZ's economic forecast is positive at the moment (unlike countries such as US or Australia) but our tech scene is still quite fragmented across the country (though it is a small size country compared to America).
Probably the biggest NZ tech startup is Xero (http://www.xero.com).
11 inch MacBook Air (64GB) = US$999 (which should convert to NZ$1,169.46 using the current exchange rate).
In NZ we've got a 15% GST (sales) tax, but that should only bring the price up to about NZ$1,345. Instead the entry level MacBook Air costs us NZ$1,549.00.
So that's a NZ$204 mark up for what??? Wish we could just buy them directly off the US Apple website!
IMO if you want a hosted solution go with Tumblr, if you want a self-hosted solution go with WordPress (www.wordpress.org, not .com).
You can customise a Tumblr blog quite a lot and you have the added benefit of not needing to worry about bandwidth (should you strike it lucky and land on the first page of Digg). For greater customisation though (i.e. do basically whatever you want) you should go with WordPress (by far the most popular blogging solution on the Internet).
The Bible has changed more lives than any other book, movie, or song you can name.
@richcollins there are tons of good minimalist writing apps out there, but they are all downloads - this solves the problem where you aren't at your main computer but need to write...
@nametoremember are you serious? Google Docs has many great features, but for the simple task of writing it is actually pretty clunky and definitely NOT minimalistic.
The main issue with their flagship product is security. When every other country in the world is moving fast to accept chip card transactions a United States company comes out with a so called "innovative" product which reads the magstripe only.
Visa have been heavily pushing chip card technology so for them to push this product shows they are willing to allow Square some slack in the security requirements.
Perhaps I should stand corrected.
Big problem: Copying the "Insta" prefix just isn't going to work (unless you're Instapaper). You're using their branding and marketing efforts to your advantage, so if your site happens to take off you'll be up against legal issues.
On the other hand if your enthusiasm for the idea isn't high enough then you should go ahead and ditch it.
