wisienkas··on What Made OO Be Successful
For learning programming concepts and everything I started out with java (OO language).

(I still love java I just don't feel like OO is the only languages to get things done)

Java(2.5 years experience) is fairly easy and it has great IDE support etc. And the template thing in OO with a house has a floor and a roof and 4 walls etc. is fine.

But can't you do the same in C (which I have recently started to learn quite intensely)? I know you have to do a little more code but it isn't that much really and C gives you great control over anything really, you can also have it organized into files and such in C just as fine at you would have done in java.

- If I'm complete off please tell me

wisienkas··on Ask HN: The best Linux laptop
Just really sad it misses that "menu" button, which has been replaced by other button.
wisienkas··on Ask HN: What is your daily rate?
My current dayli rate is 20.15€ / Hour I work in Denmark

I work as a "Student" Developer, I have programmed for 2 years My main skills are php and java. using linux platform for everything. EDIT: I'm charged about 40% of all my earnings in tax

wisienkas··on AI websites that design themselves
Using chrome, and it seems to fit perfectly really.

I think this is also a great idea especially because we use AI for way to less nowadays compared to what we actually should have learned about AI the last 50 years.

wisienkas··on A possible future for PHP
How about that we just let php be as it is, it's all good now really, eventually all the "wrongs" there was pointed out, people will get used to and have workarounds in the base of their code instead of having to rewrite their core project of 1M lines of code.
wisienkas··on Denmark tackles youth unemployment with university cuts
You are right that Denmark is a small country, I've been to USA too, and I talked to a lot of people working in cities 2-3 hours drive away. So by that yes.

However, and I might be somewhat wrong, but I've seen more people beginning to crowd around either Odense, Aarhus or Aalborg the last few years. This is however my own observation from students who finished their education that I've run into.

wisienkas··on Denmark tackles youth unemployment with university cuts
I just think theirs a higher chance that you'll stay in the area where you took your education. so in that regard some areas might go short on workforce in a few years.

Apart from that you are all right. I get "paid" for studying, which of course comes at the cost of my earning being cut in half or well less for the rest of my life, do I decide to work in Denmark.

I think and have thought for a long time that you should lend the money instead, so that you won't have any people just studying to "leech". But maybe that's a discussing for elsewhere.

wisienkas··on Denmark tackles youth unemployment with university cuts
From what I further read about this issue, was that in south denmark, more directly "University of Southern Denmark" was being cut by up to 50% in some courses, but the unemployment in that area only being about 5-10%.

What I don't understand is that the danish government didn't plan the cutdown with any specialists or people already working with the problem.

wisienkas··on A Fresh Look at Rust
Started using rust just this week.

Used more hours than ever expected on it. Simple put you'll fall in love with the compiler, because it point out so well your mistakes.

Another thing to note is that it greatly encourage you to fix your warnings too. which for me coming from java and php world isn't something you'd give much thought.

wisienkas··on Probabilistic Models of Cognition
Okay, Mainly I just wanted you to be aware of it too ;)
wisienkas··on Probabilistic Models of Cognition
I had like a lot of pop-ups with ajax failures?
wisienkas··on Computer Science and Math
For computer science, yes you need to know your math, since it will involve math and expect you to know math.

If you however were going into a 3½ IT programmer degree, it is a whole other story.

wisienkas··on OpenGL Is Broken
I see what you mean. my bad
wisienkas··on OpenGL Is Broken
but java does fine with it needs of extensions to everything. How do you justify that?
wisienkas··on To sleep, perchance to control your dreams
Be you inner self and you cant but control your dreams. Because you are you. So in reality you do already control your dreams. you are just not being you then dreaming.
wisienkas··on Scammed
Would be fun to feed those scammers with their own card info and see if they would recognize it ?

Of course you'd have to track them down first.

wisienkas··on The Facebook Comment That Ruined a Life
I Think it is frightening how illogical and incompetent USA work for justice, instead they ruin lives of innocent people, even robbing them of the freedom to speak. They just turned down their own culture once again, like all the censure they apparently love.
wisienkas··on Poll: Full-time software engineer salaries in Berlin
Those 1,5k per month could be a reason why, true.

For my student job I only make 500 euro a month, but that's well a side job while i study tho. so of course that is somewhat low, because i'm only working 9 hours a week there.

wisienkas··on Poll: Full-time software engineer salaries in Berlin
those answering less than 20k euro, how did you manage to get paid that low. To me coming from denmark, that more sound as if it's a monthly salary compared to "starter-salary" in denmark which is 35k DKK or 4,7k euro a month.
wisienkas··on Ask HN: How many still use torrents to download Movies instead of using Netflix?
People do use Torrents quite actively still. Mainly because movies are out way faster than on netflix and you have to use third-parties to access the US-netflix which contains way more movies than danish netflix. Also in danish netflix you are forced to watch most movies with subtitles :/
wisienkas··on Youtube down
Does it matter. They got trained monkeys to fix it. And now it is back up "in no time".
