wheresclark··on Show HN: Riff – make high quality decisions
Made this with 1 dev and 1 designer in 3 months. Would love any feedback!
wheresclark··on Dealing with failure
This is a post I just wrote about dealing with failure in adventure, but having worked on a few startups, I think there are a lot of parallels with the startup community. High risk, low chance of success, big challenges yet highly rewarding.
wheresclark··on What happens in the brain during a shark encounter
Agreed. I'll pick a fight with anyone who thinks culling sharks is a good thing.
wheresclark··on Show HN: Stintin - jobs for the not so faint of heart
I agree. Will change that now.
wheresclark··on Show HN: Stintin - jobs for the not so faint of heart
You're bang on the money. This was a very very very early stage test to see what people thought of the idea and if they valued it enough to pay $5. Round two of development will involve more work on the business model and adding the examples of job posts and credibility factor. Thanks for much for the feedback. It's invaluable.

Sorry about that UX faux pas. I'm still learning these things. I didn't realise it was causing problems. I'll get onto it straight away. Glad you let me know. Thanks.
wheresclark··on Ask HN: What's the best way you've found to reach a niche audience online?
Thanks for the link. Good read.
wheresclark··on Ask HN: What's the best way you've found to reach a niche audience online?
Thanks for letting me know. The title sounds pretty spammy now that I think about it. I'm still experimenting with various ways to reach an adventure audience but I've tried guest posts, SEO, adventure forums and cross promotion are all the usual suspects. I'm not after big growth, just some ideas for reaching the right people at the right time.

I imagine there are some interesting case-studies from people who frequent HN.

wheresclark··on Ask HN: Surface area of the Earth/Earth's population = How much space each?
I wasn't meaning small in terms of liveable area. I was just thinking how people generally imagine the planet to be this near infinite area, but really, we each only have a tiny patch of space to look after.
wheresclark··on Ask HN: Surface area of the Earth/Earth's population = How much space each?
Fantastic. Thanks! This is a scarily small area per person.
wheresclark··on This guy wants to row across the Pacific Ocean
The video is pretty dodgy, but the he has a lot of genuine passion. I hope he gets to the start line in 2015.
wheresclark··on World's first carbon fiber and Kevlar 3D printer [video]
I agree, they seem to be very light on the meaty info. I would be very interested to see how they go with their demonstration in SF on Monday.

I just spent the last two hours thinking of stuff I could potentially make with this. I wish I had a spare $5K.
wheresclark··on Show HN: I wrote a book about adventure. Here it is for free.
It's on my list to write about Stay tuned.
wheresclark··on Show HN: I wrote a book about adventure. Here it is for free.
Reddit.com/r/adventures is a good one. Also check out explorersweb.com and explorersconnect.com
wheresclark··on Show HN: I wrote a book about adventure. Here it is for free.
No problem at all. I hope you enjoy.
wheresclark··on An experiment in passive income
That's true. But I don't have to print and ship bags myself at all. It's all automated by the good folks at shopify and Printful. They take a good chunk of each sale of course, but the net results are worth it.
wheresclark··on Show HN: Is anybody interested in these .com domain's I'm getting rid of.
Hi bmelton. It's yours for $200.
wheresclark··on Show HN: Is anybody interested in these .com domain's I'm getting rid of.
Hi all,

Your suspicion is fair enough. Price range is from $200 for individual domains but will be happy to discuss if buying as a group. I'm not looking to make five figures off this.

wheresclark··on Show HN: I'm writing an ebook about adventure and giving it away for free
I'm starting to see this more and more. Thanks :)
wheresclark··on Show HN: I'm writing an ebook about adventure and giving it away for free
Awesome. I guarantee you'll find some unique stuff in the book.
wheresclark··on Show HN: I'm writing an ebook about adventure and giving it away for free
Scrivener has been suggested by a few people now. Time to check it out me thinks.
wheresclark··on Show HN: I'm writing an ebook about adventure and giving it away for free
I'm still writing the structure of the book, but as soon as I can, I will post an example adventure on the landing page for sure.
wheresclark··on Show HN: I'm writing an ebook about adventure and giving it away for free
I know I have only given outdoor examples, but I live in a city and have found plenty of ways to have an impromptu adventure amongst the skyscrapers. I'll be adding a few urban adventures to the book for sure.
wheresclark··on Show HN: I'm writing an ebook about adventure and giving it away for free
I'm still in the 'butchers paper and lots of planning' phase of the book so have not yet chosen a suitable publishing tool. If you've got any suggestions I'd love to take a look. I've not yet decided about version control, but it's probably a smart idea.
wheresclark··on Show HN: I'm writing an ebook about adventure and giving it away for free
Hi there,

I am still mapping out the 100 different adventures and plan on having a range spanning a bunch of skill and difficulty levels. So hopefully you will find some that you can take your wife and a six year old on.

There are so many adventures out there though that I could write an entire book on "100 Adventure To Take Your Wife and Child On". If enough people want it anyway.

The other aim of my book is to spark ideas for adventure. So perhaps, even if you don't find something you like, it might prompt you to think of something similar that's adapted to your needs.

wheresclark··on Show HN: Commute to work by any (other) means.
Hi all,

This is something I've been working on for a while now. I plan to launch in Australia soon. Please let me know your thoughts (good or bad). Any feedback would be really appreciated. Thanks.

wheresclark··on 48-Hour startup challenge
Thanks Jonaphin, I'll get to work building a few options.
wheresclark··on 48-Hour startup challenge
Thanks marshwah!
wheresclark··on Ask HN: My kayak conundrum
Thanks koopajah. Lockitron may be the best solution out there. I was hoping for a padlock that did pretty much the same thing, but with some tweaks I might be able to make the lockitron work for my needs. Perhaps using it in a metal box with a key to the shared kayak storage shed inside.
