wendyshu··on Why GitHub won
Yeah but you said "nobody bothers to actually ask other people things anymore" and I don't think it's reasonable to expect someone to ask about this when the probability of getting an answer is so low.

wendyshu··on Ask HN: Onboarded and overwhelmed by new code base
I've been there. You have to communicate with your manager and be honest about how much you can do how quickly. Start small, with one component in one programming language. Learn the language and the frameworks. Ideally you'll be allowed time to do so. After you're familiar with the technologies the code will be easier to understand. Make notes on the code. Read the docs and if they're missing info, find out and fill it in; that way you're learning and contributing. I like starting from the database models, data is usually the heart of an application. It's important not to feel like you have to rush. Learning big things takes time.

wendyshu··on Tesla sues Swedish state agency over number plate blockage
We all, to some extent, do selfish things that on average make everyone worse off. You might call it greed. I'm just surprised to see people publicly approving of it.

wendyshu··on Organizer invents fake women speakers for DevTernity and JDKon conferences
"There have been 1000s of events chasing the same small sub-group of female speakers.”

Who would have thought, it's hard to find female coders in order to present some fantasy where there are a lot of female coders because there aren't a lot of female coders.

Everything on a woman's resume is doubted because it may have been due to affirmative action. Infuriating.
