webster23··on Stripped-down Kubernetes on the Raspberry Pi
It's been a while since I last used minikube, but it was a bit slow then. There is a new alternative called kind: https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/kind I only tested it briefly (on linux), but it seemed faster than minikube. In contrast to minikube, kind does not use a vm but instead implements a cluster node as a single docker container.

Just nitpicking, but I believe it was Hermes, not Bender. edit: https://external-preview.redd.it/QkC-IFnu4weXJdqXPJCgaswRHAy...
webster23··on NixOS – Purely Functional Linux Distribution
Learning to build your own packages is a bit of a chore, but once you get there, it could not be easier. I suspect building your own packages for Debian or Redhat would be much more difficult. Let alone getting that package accepted upstream, which is not that hard with Nixos.

You don't use Vagrant for your desktop, do you?

Try buying a barrel for an AR-15 in Germany, you'll have to show a WBK (Waffenbesitzkarte).
webster23··on Key Git Concepts Explained the Hard Way
For a newbie I think SVN is definitively easier to learn at first. But then you have to live with the limitations. Git is the better choice in the end, especially if there are more than a few people working on the same codebase.

The first Moto G (2013) does not have a replaceable battery. I have one right here.
webster23··on Ask HN: What's the recommended method of adding authentication to a REST API?
The api-key does not need to be part of the URL, you can also put it in the Authorization header.

edit: typo

webster23··on Show HN: Nerv – A fast React alternative, compatible with IE8 and React 16
I think the reason for the IE8 support is that there are still lots of old windows machines used in china. And if you think IE8 is bad, have you ever had to support IE6? ;-)
webster23··on Killing ants with nuclear weapons
But you don't have to have all that, you can have just a single executable in the container, like here for example: https://github.com/containous/traefik-library-image/blob/f24...
webster23··on Why we started CoreOS
There are some guys working on a new k8s module for NixOS. https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/25426
webster23··on Could toxic air on planes make frequent flyers ill?
Gasoline is only used in smaller propeller planes, kerosene contains no lead. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avgas
webster23··on Amazon's Tepid Response to Counterfeiters Frustrates Sellers
The problem with the fake replacement batteries isn't new. In 2015 the german computer magazine ct bought 12 "samsung" batteries at amazon and all were fake. https://www.heise.de/ct/ausgabe/2015-10-Amazon-verkauft-nach...
