I haven't found any Thunderbolt 5 enclosures for sale yet, though.
wdb··on Cheaper to rent in Barcelona and commute to London (2013)
You should check how much a taxi ride is from like Suffolk to London. Last time it was nearly £200
wdb··on All the data can be yours: reverse engineering APIs
Sounds like a version of Plaid lol
wdb··on OpenID Connect specifications published as ISO standards
Guess great way to spend the last bits of money of the yearly department budget so you won't loose it in 2025
wdb··on California's gas prices to increase 65 cents per gallon with new fuel standards
Still will be cheap compared to gas prices in other countries. Plenty of places where it is around $2/litre
wdb··on Pg_parquet: An extension to connect Postgres and parquet
or Google Cloud
wdb··on Why Gov.uk's Exit this Page component doesn't use the Escape key
> The JAWS screen reader in Chromium would register the first Shift keypress twice,

Sounds like they are relying that a screen reader user is using a specific version of JAWS? Do they really expect people to upgrade JAWS to the latest version when it costs $1200? I understand it's important software for the audience still a lot of money.

wdb··on First wave of M4 Macs, including smaller Mac mini, coming November 1
Curious how well these M4's will be for AI models. Love to run Llama 70B+ on my Mac. Or use it to generate the images with Flux
wdb··on Jeep owners should park outside pending recall fix, US agency says
Aren't there car insurances that require to park your Jeep inside?
wdb··on OpenAI Nearly Doubles Valuation to $157B in Funding Round
And they are expecting us to pay more than the most popular streaming sites combined as monthly fee for ChatGPT? I won't. $40/month is too much imho Looking at my API usages costs I am not even close to the current monthly cost
wdb··on Is English a “creole Language”?
You can barely order food or drinks in Dutch in Amsterdam. Pancake house, server doesn’t speak Dutch. Local pub, server doesn’t speak Dutch. I don’t think that would happen in London or New York. You go to the pub or NY diner and they can’t speak English
wdb··on OpenNext is joined by Cloudflare and Netlify
Curious if it possible to get it working under GCP or Azure
wdb··on Apple mobile processors are now made in America by TSMC
I don't see this a positive thing as European. Why not produce the mobile processors in Europe?
wdb··on Netflix uncovers mythical European culture
Probably helps when you are getting forced as a Netflix to generate a percentage of local content.
wdb··on How Should I Price a Python Module License for Major Banks?
In the past I charged $100k/year per client for something similar
wdb··on VFSGlobal Charges for CS While Breaking UX with a Non-Functional Keyboard
Ah yeah, never figured out how to login after creating an account on that website. The login page I always ended up on doesn't look like the one in screenshot, though? The one I saw looked more like a 90s login page: https://row5.vfsglobal.com/GlobalAppointment/Account/Registe...

Ended up flying back to the home country to get my IDs renewed. It's fun when you ID expires in less than six months so you can't leave the country until you got your new IDs

wdb··on Show HN: I built a minimalist observability stack for indie projects
Its not clear to me if it supports OTLP
wdb··on Show HN: What if you didn't sell that stock? Ignite your FOMO
Looks nice only getting some errors when trying to add a stock that got renamed (FB->META). But the -92% ROI is already depressing enough lol
wdb··on ArcticDB: Why a Hedge Fund Built Its Own Database
Feels more feel free to use it as long you aren't a competitor
wdb··on Why fans of nuclear are a problem today
I think I read somewhere that you need 800 wind turbines to replace a typical nuclear plant or 5 million solar panels. Personally, I prefer solar panels on roofs over wind turbines as it's less of an eye soir and noisy.
wdb··on GitHub was down
Feels like Github is down more often than Gitlab
wdb··on Disney seeks dismissal of wrongful death lawsuit citing waiver in Disney+ terms
If we didn't need more reasons not to go Disney World or support Disney. I can't say they have created amazing content recently. Most of the interesting content is not produced by them.
wdb··on Gitlab is reportedly up for sale
One reason to use Gitlab is there CI much more powerful than Github Actions. I am converting pipelines to Github Actions/workflows at the moment and some limitations are just a pain in the butt. Like 8 workflow depth etc
wdb··on USPS text scammers duped his wife, so he hacked their operation
Why are they not accepting a whole bunch of credit card (types)?
wdb··on Gurman: M4 MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac Coming This Year
The earlier the better as I accidentally chopped a piece out of my display of MBP. Now it looks like a group of dead pixels.
wdb··on Porffor: A from-scratch experimental ahead-of-time JS engine
You make it sound bad to rely on LLVM.
wdb··on Alec Baldwin's Rust trial dismissed amid claims of hidden evidence
Baldwin was also a producer of the movie. I am not sure what the rules in the movie business are regarding when you represent both roles (actor and producer) and whether they (partly) for safety
wdb··on Alec Baldwin's Rust trial dismissed amid claims of hidden evidence
Such odd things seem to happen a lot lately over there. You also have the odd behaviour of police in the Karen Read case
wdb··on FTC finds 'dark patterns' used by a majority of subscription apps and websites
As long cancelling is just as easy signing up. I do think its nice when companies mail you reminder that they are about renew your subscription when it is about to expire
