wallst07··on The EPA is planning to scrap public review rules for data center pollution
And when you get to boomer age your cohert will do the exact same thing, and you will be yelling at the kids to get off your lawn, and the cycle will repeat.

Ask me how I know...

wallst07··on Astra for Coding: Why Are We Doing This Again?
You don't need to read the code manually line by line to do that. But yes, you need to know what you're doing.
wallst07··on Astra for Coding: Why Are We Doing This Again?
Or C, agentic coders who have been doing this for 20+ years (software engineering) know what they're doing?

Also, when people say 'read the code' do they really mean go line by line, or review the pseudo code? Meaning, read the high level architecture/data flow.

Because IMO the code matters very little if you have the proper testing environment and guardrails, the architecture always matters.

wallst07··on AirPods 5
Some cars isolate the noise with speakers in the head rest so everyone gets a optimal level of isolation.
wallst07··on Show HN: What if the speed of light was 5 km/h?
We can easily accelerate past 1g... 1g is just chosen for human comfort, but running any rocket engine continuously for a year requires an impossible amount of fuel.
wallst07··on Switzerland's Federal Government Is Replacing Microsoft on 3k Computers
And this affects you personally how? Other than a sense of keyboard outrage?
wallst07··on I resigned from Anthropic today
How so?
wallst07··on I resigned from Anthropic today
Humans take risk adjusted decisions all the time, OP is still correct that LLM risk is FAR below all the ones we know and accept today.

Death by Cars, Cancer, Heart disease etc...

wallst07··on I resigned from Anthropic today
So the crazy who committed a horrible crime is the fault of a LLM? Maybe so.

Certainly there should be some protocols/laws followed here, but do you think this can extend out to cause mass damage or a singular event that should be investigated?

wallst07··on I resigned from Anthropic today
Good point, humanity chose a and the sky in fact did NOT ignite an destroy the planet. The hypothesis was very very far off from what I recall.

But it's good we talked about it.

wallst07··on Copyright does more harm than good and should be abolished
It seems the consensus in this thread [if I'm skimming correctly] is most want copyright completely removed.

So in your hypothetical: you write the book and have a change of heart, I'll just copy it verbatim, slap my name on it and now I'm the author.

wallst07··on Copyright does more harm than good and should be abolished
The irony in your post ... "driven just by some internal feelings" and "violent backing of the state. It's a monopolistic practice abused by wealthy."
wallst07··on Copyright does more harm than good and should be abolished
I don't see an argument for removing copyright being a good thing other than people wanting other's work for free, not just free to use but free to sell as their own.
wallst07··on Copyright does more harm than good and should be abolished
"Compared to the economic and human disruptions of shipping most of America's manufacturing jobs overseas since WWII"

That didn't happen overnight and was not done out of an immediate law change.

Might want to check your facts mate.

wallst07··on WeatherNext 3
I'm interested on how you drew the cause/effect of this, is there non-biased sources? Has google said as much, and how does this explain why some models are more accurate?
wallst07··on We have a year to fix security everywhere
I don't know, I think this comes down to people that generally live with higher levels of anxiety than others. Now the response may be to call others naive, but where does the anxiety meat the naivety?
wallst07··on We have a year to fix security everywhere
So you are horrified every day of living now? I don't get this at all.

There are horrifying acts that have occurred since humanity. Whole decades lost to war an millions dead, and Sep 8, 2026 is your example of "horrifying enough to live in a world"?

I think some perspective is needed.

wallst07··on We have a year to fix security everywhere
Wouldn't it just as easy to do this on the defense side as well then?

wallst07··on The Real Luxuries In Life
The hardest thing anyone has to deal with is their own thoughts in silence.

I suspect most of the people here (including myself) are so addicted to tech and instant access to information it would be unbearable for most.

Experience: Meditated every morning for an hour for sometime, it was tough in the beginning.

wallst07··on The Real Luxuries In Life
You are looking at it from the wrong perspective, you are trying to fit "healthy" into your current environment. I think it's the wrong approach.

For example: societies that live the longest and are generally the healthiest do not have gym equipment or trainers, exercise is a core part of their every day life.

The mistake you are making [I think] is looking at these things as impossible goals because of lack of more money so it is easy not to try and risk failure.

wallst07··on Private German rocket makes history, reaches orbit from European soil
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Offensive_realism

I think you maybe believing that War would not have happened or there was some other approach without war, ever? I'm sorry but such beliefs are as wishful thinking as buying the world a coke.

wallst07··on Private German rocket makes history, reaches orbit from European soil
I'm an idiot, what have we lost exactly? Soft Power?
wallst07··on Isar Aerospace reaches orbit and deploys payloads on second flight
It's an opinion just like all the others here... every morning before US wakes up there are a bunch of articles by EU readers for EU readers patting themselves on the back for getting something built without US influence.

Inevitably it turns into the same tired discussions that either:

A) Actually, it's not completely EU because it has x% of American parts

B) America Bad

Then, the one person who comes in to give a different opinion is met with your comment. I see it constantly.

wallst07··on Isar Aerospace reaches orbit and deploys payloads on second flight
Who is "(Frace)" and what are you talking about?

You all need to watch actions more than what people say.

wallst07··on AI handles incidents, engineers lose touch with their systems
Claude asks me all the time when it's stuck, what are your prompts?

I think some of these anti-claude comments have some face, then I get a peek into how people use them, and it seems all wrong.

The tooling is incredibly configurable, but comes out of the box with a big auto button, because thats what people want. Doesn't mean advanced users have to use it.

wallst07··on AI handles incidents, engineers lose touch with their systems
It's funny you mention this, I've worked for financial type systems where they spend considerable time removing any floats the from the code base.

I'll leave it up to the reader to figure out why this may be important.

wallst07··on Whistleblower warns Postal Service mail ballot system has catastrophic problems
Are you talking about this particular topic, or all of them? Are you able to say one positive change current administration has purposefully done?

"I agree that it adds little to the conversation"

Do you think those comments should be flagged and [deleted] or they add value here and should be kept around?

wallst07··on Whistleblower warns Postal Service mail ballot system has catastrophic problems
"defending the current administration, at this state, does take a level of bad faith"

So every topic regarding current administration is a bad faith argument on the proponent side? Or just this one?
