It sounds like it is not so cut and dry. From the article:

Michael Marcus, who worked at the FCC for 25 years and is now a consultant on wireless technology and spectrum policy, writes that cellular base stations have been "allowed next to the GPS band since 2003" under FCC policy, yet GPS makers "paid little attention to the fact that GPS would be having a new neighbor with much stronger signals in some places than the original MSS [mobile satellite services] signals."

Marcus, who does some consulting work for LightSquared, further writes that the "GPS industry has not pressed the filter manufacturers for the latest technology," and "as a result many GPS receivers have a lingering vulnerability to strong adjacent band signals that results from GPS manufacturers ignoring policy changes made in the US almost a decade ago."

I actually had thought of that too, but wanted to keep the instructions as short as possible. Maybe commas separting choices w/ enter submitting the form would work better though? I will play around w/ that if I do any updates.

I think there is a lot they can do to make moving between metro and the desktop less jarring. They could very easily skin the desktop away from faux 3d glossy semitransparent things to solid colors for window borders and menus with clean edges, icons, and text.

In the developer preview it looked awful to have the black windows button on the aqua 3d suparbar. Why not just make the whole thing black? I think the desktop would look great with solid white / colored windows over a good photo.

This could be due to a perceived lack of leadership qualities as much as a real one.

In what context have you heard Indians use it?

Bacteria are incredibly diverse. Antibiotics are not effective against every strain.. not just because some have become resistant, but because they they usually target a specific enzyme or pathway that may not be present.

A round of antibiotics is a nice thing to have if you are traveling and don't have access to hospital, but if you have a serious infection and try to treat yourself, you are taking a stupid risk with your life.

There are some similar cool open hardware projects sponsored by TI. They have better specs, although their prices are quite a bit higher. I don't know if it is because they do lower volumes, the chips cost more, or price just wasn't as much a concern when they were designed.

The beagleboard-xm has an A8, 4 usb ports, and 512 ram for $150, the related beaglebone has arduino like pins and an A8 for $80, and the pandaboard has an A9, 1gb ram, and wifi for $180.

This is what Netflix should do. For the cost of one large budget HBO style series, they could produce two or thee films or series a month, and then build on the ones that are most successful.

I would be interested to hear which results users prefer when there are no logos at all. I did a blind search engine test about the time that Bing launched, and oddly enough for the queries I tried, I picked Yahoo (pre bing) as having the best results most often.

I still use Google though, so maybe it really is all about the logo for me...

I don't think that it is entirely safe to say epigenetics are inconsequential for Animals. DNA methylation is definitely important to development w/in a single organism, and I think it is still unclear how important it is to heredity.

On a side note: I am a biochem student w/ an interest in programming.. HN has been really helped me to learn _what_ to learn about computer science. I love when I see good discussion of biology here, but I wish there was a similar online community for molecular biology / genetics. Anyone have any suggestions?
