Really? I have a 2019 MBP and it doesn't last more than 3 hrs on 100% charge. The only usage is for the web development. And this is my third MBP (the old ones are dead because their magic boards became dead after the expiry of 1yr warranty + 2yr AppleCare plan).
The battery drains pretty quickly if I attach it to an external monitor.
Also, the evil `kernel_task` process eats up all CPU cores (for minutes and the machine remains unusable in the meantime) that drains the battery within an hour if I don't keep my table fan pointed at it (probably because Apple doesn't give a sh*t about the products they sell in India and their performance at 30-45 deg celsius temperature which is normal in Indian subcontinents).
I write about general programming stuff (but not active for a year now).
A little zine book on Consul I had written last year (it's free, btw) - https://vishaltelangre.com/books/consul.
Also, the site lists some fun projects I have written in my spare time (in many languages such as Rust, Swift, Elm, Elixir, Go, Ruby and JavaScript). For e.g. https://old-version.vishaltelangre.com has a REPL like interactive interface written in Elm; GitHub link can be found using one of the commands.
Many other Apple-built apps and products (especially those that cannot have any 3rd-party alternatives) are horrible to use.

I am not quite yet familiar with advanced topics such as achieving parallelism using threads in Rust and other similar stuff. My knowledge of Rust is limited at this moment and I struggled to get the language concepts to work such as ownership, lifetimes, etc. I am sure that I will be able to improvise the ff's performance by some extent by gaining some more knowledge of Rust.
I highly doubt that this is what the motive is. But I agree that this decision is very irresponsible and can have a disastrous impact. It could surely help in detecting a pattern which may put the nation in some sort of risk, but there is a greater and inevitable chance that it can be easily misused by the granted authorities or some personnel working for those authorities.
On the other hand, keeping an eye on the handful of (big) companies to restrict them from supplying plastic to people is comparatively an easy task and requires less (man, money and infrastructure) power.
Besides, government(s) can also think of funding research program(s) to synthesize an eco-friendly material alternative to plastic which can be produced with same cost as of plastic; or funding program(s) to at least efficiently recycle plastic directly proportional to its growing usage.
I agree that "we", the people need to take a pledge to stop using plastic as much as we can. But if there's no restriction put on giant FMCG companies such as Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Patanjali, Netsle, Procter and Gamble, etc. from supplying their products wrapped in plastic, I consider all of these government initiatives merely as a gimmick.
EDIT 1: Another comment I left on this thread - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=17400028.
EDIT 2: In India, plastic is a major contributor of blocking sewers and rivers, especially in rainy seasons. Another important problem plastic waste produces is that since government bodies (such as, municipal corporations, gram panchayats, etc.) are unable to dump and/or recycle plastic waste properly, it is accidentally consumed by animals and is the major reason for their deaths. Another issue is that, often "dumping waste" is considered as "burning" it. Burning plastic waste disturbs healthy air and is a major factor among others responsible for the increased air pollution in Indian cities recently.
Naming multiple top-level values `flipPlayer` makes things ambiguous. When you

Full stack Ruby and JavaScript developer with 3+ years of corporate experience.
My past works include swing/pitch analysis (Rails, Backbone), LMS (Rails), embeddable third-party js chiclet & paywalls (React.js, Webpack), virtual warehouse builder on GMaps (Express, Angular), embeddable & realtime sentiment voting module (Clojure, Apache Kafka, Apache Storm, React.js), video app for businesses (Swift, AVFoundation, Rails, SQS, React.js, Flux).
Also -- Recurly, Stripe, WePay, Dwolla, MailChimp, Twilio.
I make sure covering critical parts of system with necessary unit test cases. No fuss about TDD, but prefer when really required -- experience with RSpec, BTW.
I have experience of deployment on AWS, Heroku, Digital Ocean & Linode using Capistrano. Use Docker for local development. Can handle (or work along with ops guy) DevOps stuff, can use provisioning tools alike Chef, Puppet when capistrano deployment becomes cumbersome.
