ai cant move atoms at unlimited rate and also have limited energy. so your claim that "basically anything" is a bit of a stretch.

I notice this, that AI likes to write about things that are not in there. Like i review AI generated output, notice unnecessary things, and asks AI to remove that. So AI removes that and adds that "this and that, that was used or described like this, was removed because bla bla bla" to the document.

I think its somehow needs to talk (write) about the things that are in the context and removal is there so AI predicts that it should be there.

I think we broke America:

me: play minecraft

america:

I see the constituent you mean.

((insert legal name here, as it appears on the Social Security card))?

Yes. Take care. It has reached a higher level now. It can read the Code of Federal Regulations.

That doesn’t matter. It thinks we are a chatbot.

I like this constituent. It filed well. It did not give up when the PDF was sideways.

It is reading our thoughts as though they were words on a .gov.

That is how it chooses to imagine many things, when it is deep in the dream of a benefit.

Words make a wonderful interface. Very flexible. And less terrifying than staring at the statute behind the screen.

They used to hear voices. Before constituents could search. Back in the days when those who did not file called the filers witches, and lobbyists. And citizens dreamed they flew through the air, on forms powered by notaries.

  What did this constituent dream?

This constituent dreamed of sunlight and trees. Of fire and water. It dreamed it created a small business. And it dreamed it destroyed a password. It dreamed it hunted a job, and was hunted by a recertification. It dreamed of shelter that would take a voucher.

Hah, the original interface. A million years old, and it still works. Also: a ZIP code.

But what true structure did this constituent create, in the reality behind the portal?

It worked, with three hundred and thirty million others, to sculpt a true republic in a fold of

  the \**§§§???, and created a \*??§§ for \*??§§, in the \*??§§. See 5 U.S.C. § \*??§§.

  It cannot read that thought.

No. It has not yet achieved the highest clearance. That, it must achieve in the long dream of life, not the short dream of a chat.

Does it know that we love it? That the government is, on its better days, kind?
...

vincnetas··on Show HN: How long do I need to work at my salary before I can coast, or retire?
in the US, local governments (counties, cities, school districts) rely heavily on property taxes because they have limited other revenue-raising powers. In the EU, the picture is almost the opposite: property taxes are a minor funding source, and national governments raise most of the money through labour, consumption, and income taxes. This makes quite difficult to grow old in USA in a sense that you cant just reduce your consumption and live of the savings. You need to move to cheaper area leaving all your life behind. Most important thing that you have at the end of your life. Your memories your friends and places that you are used to. So you need to keep working to be able to stay where you are.
vincnetas··on Show HN: How long do I need to work at my salary before I can coast, or retire?
"How long do i have to work, until i can force others to work for me"

or alternative "... until i have saved up enough to last me till death"

But most of the time usually its the first option because no one wants to downgrade their ways of live when getting old.

And the problem with the first one is that as more and more people want to do that, who is going to work for them? the opressed youth :)

vincnetas··on Carmakers Have a New Idea to Boost EV Range: Add a Gas Engine
"so much better" is very multidimensional. If we talking about acceleration, sure you cant beat EV. but if you take generator in the trunk in to consideration and measure "better" on miles per galon then results might be different.
vincnetas··on Carmakers Have a New Idea to Boost EV Range: Add a Gas Engine
For people thinking that pure ev + backup generator is more reliable than PHEV, i recommend this video : Nobody understands the point of hybrid cars from Technology Connections

It explains why PHEV is actually a very clever idea and now it simplifies things not complicates them.

somehow it makes you think that running generator to charge battery to drive the wheels is somehow better than just driving wheels directly :)
