This recording will never be available? I would like to watch his talk...
Started using their free application and bought the full version for $0,5 on a promotion :) Fully integrated with Google Calendar (and Google Apps!)
1. The press prefer paid games/apps.
Launch your app as paid, reach the press, make some buzz and then change the price to free. With this move, lots of websites will talk about you and lots of user will want your app; but they will download as soon as you make it free.
If you want to charge for specific features, setup a in-app purchase.
2. 100,000 downloads is hard.
The first game (which is free) I launched achieved 100k downloads in the first month; that never happened again since. And it is becoming harder every day; so I would suggest that you consider 200~400 downloads a 'good enough' perfomance.
3. Banner ads suck, focus on innovative medias.
The classic AdMob banner sucks and users are learning to ignore it. Fullscreen banners, like Chartboost and Playhaven, are awesome and deliver a good eCPM ($10+). Also, Video ads (AdColony) works very well for most developers.
4. Apple's cut
They take 30% of every virtual sale; but you can sell physical products without paying them anything. Also, Apple don't make anything on your ads.
5. Android is... different
Focus on iOS, it is more predictable. Android is great, I'm a user myself; but I simply do not understand how they rank apps and how do users interact with apps.
1. Charge the hotel for each lead generated After the initial search, ask for the user email and phone number. Sell this number to the hotels. But probably your users will not like that...
2. How much do you make on commissions (on %)? Lets say a hotel room would cost $1000 and you make 10% on commissions. Then, instead of quoting the price as $1000, you show the price as $990. You book the room for $900 (1000 minus your commission) and make $90 on commissions (instead of $100) On your site you can charge for accommodations only and all other expenses (drinks, food, etc) would be paid on the hotel.
Sell them on your website and marketplaces. An example, posted some days ago at HN: http://www.clickminded.com/why-appsumo-is-going-to-keep-crus...
Highly recommend for those who would like to know more about the 'history' of Middle-earth.
Wasn't "Slide to Unlock" invalidated in the process against HTC?

I bet you say that to everyone...
Uncaught Error. {"errorCode": 6, "errorStr": "Internal operation failure, unable to reticulate splines!"}
The search algorithm is shitty, but this example isn't good to illustrate problems with the App Store.

If you can align your interests (write better code) with their interests (make more money), you may have a chance to rewrite the code. :)
Prove them that refactoring the code can help you create more sites faster. With more sites in less time, they will make more money.
A tip: name the game as Super Tic Tac Toe. That change can benefit you on search and rankings (because of SEO).
