ventricity··on The 15-year search for a band that charted once and vanished
A good read, thank you. There are many excellent bands and songs gone through time. It can be difficult to discover rare songs, or even slightly out there ones, through streaming apps like Spotify.
ventricity··on Ask HN: How to be alone?
Yes, I very much agree. I think it is irresponsible to take antidepressants for something that is clearly an issue of "normal" life scenarios like hearthbreak and loneliness. It is normal, but also very much fixable by gradually putting yourself out there.
ventricity··on “Nothing” is the secret to structuring your work
I know and have known plenty intelligent coworkers that spend more time organizing and creating structures and planning than actually doing anything useful. I had a colleague who spent so much time setting up his coding environment and whatnot - that when we finished the project he hadn't done anything. at all.
ventricity··on Transparent leadership beats servant leadership
no, it has to be organisation first. it's no good to put people first if there's no job to go to. if you put the organisation first, you get a good working environment since it requires a leadership style that gets the best out of people. any leader or any employee should ideally be replaceable.

it's not "horribly toxic" as you say, because if that is the case your company is terrible in the first place.

Servant leadership is about the big lines, not only the company but being a positive force in society as well. If you truly understand it, it's probably the hardest kind of leadership to aspire to.

In fact, servant leadership is about turning the organizational chart upside down, where the leaders serve the other employees, making sure they have what they need so they get the best out if them

ventricity··on A receipt printer cured my procrastination
I love this, a great improvement or alternative on the original idea.
