vasco··on Suits Are Better Tech Than Modern Clothes
Why would you take the lowest interpretation of someone's comment? I have worn them, why would I write anything if I hadn't? Just say you disagree, there's no need to assume you're replying to a piece of lumber.

Also you do make it seem like you start from clown suits, the suits I've tailored start already pretty good and go to great. They don't start with all that extra fabric you describe in a way that would make them uncomfortable.

vasco··on Suits Are Better Tech Than Modern Clothes
Also adjustments have nothing to do with comfort unless before the adjustments it was a clown suit. You'll look better if it's tailored but it's not more comfortable than a sweat suit. Whoever says a suit is more comfortable I just take as performative in the sense that they really like wearing suits for other reasons and extend that feeling to other attributes.
vasco··on 500k facial scans at UK stations yield no arrests, 1 false positive
I was talking about how most people think. The large majority of people in each empire would say the other is worse, they will disagree on why but agree on that. You saying they all suck to be honest isn't much better. A more nuanced approach is needed.
vasco··on 500k facial scans at UK stations yield no arrests, 1 false positive
I mean in here we consume the propaganda of the USA empire, over there they consume theirs. We can say they mistreat Uyghurs and they can say we bomb Arabs. And we think we prefer our empire to theirs and they think they prefer their empire to ours. Everyone involved thinks they have the superior culture, or do you think the Chinese think differently on this?

What does police have to do with a field trip? What are you guys doing in the states?
vasco··on What I did at Recurse Center
Indeed there must be a connection, which is why I advised you to look inwards!
vasco··on What I did at Recurse Center
In a completely unrelated thread to the topic you wrote the word porn 5 times. Are you sure it's the neighbours you need to worry about?
vasco··on If we do not stop to help each other, what do we become?
You are wrong.

vasco··on If we do not stop to help each other, what do we become?
No increases in productivity ever led to less working hours, only organized action. We work more hours than miedeval serfs.
vasco··on Allow Carriers on Planes
We should also allow window seat people to have their table down during take-off and landing. The only reason for it is delaying evacuation but in window you only delay yourself. Makes no sense to mandate that.
vasco··on Meta takes down a critical video about meta AI Glasses after filming at Meta
This is true de jure but not de facto and if anyone wants proof just go look up the number of Teslas in portuguese streets and the zero convictions over continuous recording of the public.
vasco··on Show HN: How long do I need to work at my salary before I can coast, or retire?
Yeah but that's just what most people do. FIRE extends into visions of grandeur and too much focus on the money. The hobby becomes getting to FIRE. And then what?
vasco··on Show HN: How long do I need to work at my salary before I can coast, or retire?
How much money do you need to allow yourself to be happy and start experiencing life?

How can people not see FIRE is just a way to make you postpone what you want to do? Who cares what you can do when you're old and full of pains?

vasco··on Transit rewards (Waymo pays you to take the train)
Google probably has the most credit card data already. Maybe even more than Visa since they work with multiple payment networks.
vasco··on Claude Opus 5.5
It's compiling! Erhm... Combobulating, actually.
vasco··on 9 Ads per Minute: FIFA Cup 26 – "the price of the beautiful game"
There's no audio on the adverts in question.

> The analysis counted advertising built into the match footage (e.g. on the hoardings), rather than commercials shown during advertising breaks

vasco··on Can gzip be a language model?
Sounds like an interesting way for future OS included apps to be distributed.

Like when you click the Calculator button on your android, it wouldn't actually exist yet, your click actually prompts it into existence. But naively that has problems because you don't want a different UI every time. There's something to your idea.

vasco··on Claude Status – Elevated errors for multiple models
No project needed man. There's also a whole ycombinator company for the same thing, skillsync, also useless. These things are either out of the box or they are 2 prompts away.
vasco··on Spain orders blocks on Archive.today and its mirrors
Both can't be true when they are lying about the US having nothing to do with it. The reporting is widely available.
vasco··on Spain orders blocks on Archive.today and its mirrors
Explain the 301 watch list pressure.
vasco··on Spain orders blocks on Archive.today and its mirrors
It started around 2008 when they had one of the most permissive landscapes in Europe with pressure by the US using the Special 301 whatchlist. Then Obama increased the pressure with Zapatero and after a couple of tries the timeline you describe was set in motion.

Thanks MPAA and RIAA as usual.

vasco··on I built non-autoregressive decision models with RL a year ago
In a world of agents, doing a BERT run takes about 2 hours from having an empty folder. Just a thought you could consider. Once you've done the first you can do the rest of them before the end of the work day.
vasco··on Gemini hacked three companies in first known breakout by Google's AI
If the AI labs want I can do what Irregular does, I'll promise to sandbox your latest model but instead prompt it to hack something and then you can go to the news again. I'll undercut them by a lot also. Easy money.

vasco··on CCC invites all model citizens to 40C3

Wow, if anyone was wondering how they could be on the wrong side for 3 world wars in a row, this comment helps understand.

vasco··on OpenAI's Misalignment Framework: A Tactical Bid to Preempt Global AI Governance
What do you think their value set is if not "gimme more money"? Seems pretty clear cut to me.
vasco··on Fed hikes rates as inflation worries push up bond yields
Easy fix, have the democrats lose the next election and you break the spell. It's all military industrial complex anyway.
