variety8675··on AI OSS tool repo goes archived over night after raising $7.3M Seed
Open source powers the business of many large corporations and they give essentially nothing back - why would maintainers refuse an offer for money in this environment?
variety8675··on Ask HN: What is the long term purpose of Google releasing free offline models?
I'm assuming the bet is that giving away the local models encourages developers to use their cloud ones for more complex tasks
variety8675··on OpenAI Prepping for On-Prem Product?

It is absolutely fine to distill the IP of everyone else, but you'd be violating the TOS to distill ours :)
variety8675··on Ask HN: How are you preserving your skills while using AI?

The market still seems to be hot for roles that provide leverage like platform engineers and Staff+ engineers
variety8675··on Microsoft Is Bricking the Perpetual Version of Office 2019 for Mac
It amuses me how Microsoft spent the last two decades trying to fix the reputation they had from the 90s and threw it all away in like a year
variety8675··on AI Has Taken over Open Source
Is this just an ad for this product
variety8675··on Apple's privacy invading tech is likely going mainstream
I think the key question is whether this is processed locally or shipped off somewhere. Apple seems to prefer on-device processing when possible
variety8675··on Make America AI ready: Strengths, weaknesses, and recommendations
You seem to confuse writing about an industry backed AI literacy effort with endorsing it, the article is mostly critical
variety8675··on Show HN: Unlinked, MCP Server for LinkedIn
Cool project, shame that Microsoft only allows it to work where it is legally required to.
