The draw of SF used to be that it was a free-wheeling, anything goes type of place. But that was decades ago. Now there is hardly a reason to go there unless it's something business related.

Reddit seems pretty adolescent in general. What comes to my mind when I think of it is cartoons/comics, video games, celebrities and mainstream news. So does warm and fuzzy mean they are catering to a more mature audience or what?

I don't really have a problem with that since a person would only go to Reddit or Facebook to be brainwashed anyway.
