uninverted··on You’re a little company, now act like one
"Foobar inc., Portugal's leading provider of accounting software in the $50-$100 range marketed toward shipping companies".
uninverted··on Data Structures and Algorithms with Object-Oriented Design Patterns in Python
The title sounds randomly generated.
uninverted··on Xmonad 0.9 released The light, reliable, extensible tiling window manager
What? You say that software with tests is more reliable, and then give an example of reliable software without tests.
uninverted··on What is the "minimal" set of primitives needed for a Lisp interpreter?
I can't stop myself from reading it like free verse because of the line breaks :|
uninverted··on Why TV, not Facebook or Twitter, is still revolutionizing the world
Classic game theory: it's (supposedly) a net benefit for everyone to watch TV, but for any given person it's a net loss.
uninverted··on The C++ bashing season is back
I wonder what a language with a three character Fibonacci sequence would be like. You'd probably need Unicode, if the language wasn't specifically designed for the Fibonacci sequence.
uninverted··on The Wolfram Alpha API Has Arrived
This is a paragon of obfuscatory buzz-speak.
uninverted··on Perl 5.11 released
There's a chicken and egg thing here...
uninverted··on Perl 5.11 released
I don't care which language is popular, I want to know what makes a language popular. I try to choose languages orthogonally to popularity.
uninverted··on Perl 5.11 released
I wonder if perl would be less popular if it was a better language.
uninverted··on Perl 5.11 released
java cobol c++ fortran basic pascal php
uninverted··on A bit of vaporware (or "Microsoft's Secret Newton Killer")
Secret Newton Killer? Einstein?
uninverted··on Ask HN: Do you create music? Let's hear it!
I just scared the hell out of my neighbors. :)
uninverted··on How To Appear To Be A Sophisticated Programmer
There's no language called "Indian". They speak Hindi and English in India.
uninverted··on The Design and Implementation of XMonad
I use a really similar wm called Awesome (written in C and Lua), but I might switch once I grok haskell more.
uninverted··on Computer science lacks women, minorities
Yep, total old boys club; you only get in from reference counting. When will women be able to mark and sweep?
uninverted··on Wolfram Alpha proves that N = N - 1
This is very dubious (proving the opposite is easier), but it was quite a lot of fun.
uninverted··on Ask HN: Could a Lisp be Blub?
...Man, Clojure seems to have just about everything from every language ever.
uninverted··on 999999999999999 - 999999999999997
I like Lisp too, but there's nothing especially accurate about it's arithmetic that you can't get in other civilized languages.
uninverted··on Ask HN: Could a Lisp be Blub?
Smalltalk would be trivial to model with s-exps: (object message args)
uninverted··on Ask HN: Could a Lisp be Blub?
I think you need laziness to be a little more prevalent than that before it makes a difference. Haskell's super-concise Fibonacci sequence illustrates that:

  let fib = 1 : 1 : zipWith (+) fib (tail fib)
uninverted··on Ask HN: Could a Lisp be Blub?
This question would be the length of a book if I had to define those words. Any hostility you detected was imagined. I was only pondering if a language in a certain style could be overly restrictive.
uninverted··on Ask HN: Teaching others to code
http://utilitymill.com/utility/MetaUtility Just about the same thing for Python. It would probably be trivial to write another one like _why's with Rails, though
uninverted··on Ask HN: Haiku?

  I am reluctant
  to upvote any haikus that
  employ plagiarism.
uninverted··on Ask HN: Haiku?

  Four then Five then Five
  A proper haiku makes not
  Try Five Seven Five
uninverted··on Ask HN: Haiku?

  BeOS was an
  Operating System, 'twas
  never meant to Be.
uninverted··on LangId Tells You The Language of Your Text
Did anyone else expect this to be for programming languages?
uninverted··on Learn Icon
Some of the biggest reasons to learn a new language are the features that you can take back to more domestic ones; almost nothing that makes Icon special (backtracking, generators, string scanning) can be used in other languages
uninverted··on Ask HN: What would you do with a Class C IP block?
Why would thick wall be a problem? (I'm not being sarcastic, I really don't know)
uninverted··on 4Chan launches embarrassing attack on devout Christians on Facebook
I agree, but at the last part: heliocentrism before it was cool.
