I don't think that's accurate. Perhaps it's practically true, but I don't think that's an inherent property of dictatorships. Certainly the original dictatorship was an elected, time-limited office.

Definitely mass. (It is "ultramassive", after all.) An explanation of black hole volume I found from NASA [1]:

My theory on this is that Republicans from roughly the 80s or maybe a little before got too good with the propaganda. Because of that and the loose party system we have in the US, people who grew up on conservative propaganda are now prominent elected officials and the cycle reinforces itself.

Either that or it's just grifters who have realized there is no bottom with a substantial portion of "the base". It's probably a combination.

FWIW, New York's current Medicaid budget alone puts it between San Marino and Israel for per capita healthcare spending. Widening the net a bit, that's between Italy and the UK.

The US already spends more than double what Canada spends per capita. If we had the cost efficiency of Canada's health care system, we could by double the health care without spending more than we already do.

I think what's being missed here is the function of a minimum wage is preventing workers from selling their labor below cost, just as we might attempt to prevent companies from selling products below cost under certain circumstances.
