ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on ’Brain rot‘ named Oxford Word of the Year 2024
Is there actually any evidence that an “attention span” can be affected in any way? I’m not knowledgeable about any psychological studies on this topic. My instinct says that young people consume short form content because that’s their preference. I’m sure they’re also still capable of like watching a movie.
ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on The Reddits
I didn’t say that was the stupidest comment I could think of. It was just something that stood out to me recently. Tech literacy among Reddit users used to be pretty decent. Now it’s pretty much the opposite.
ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on The Reddits
The user quality on Reddit really has taken a nosedive over the years. I recall looking at some thread recently related to online services for consoles. The overwhelming sentiment in the thread was something like "I already pay for internet why should I pay for XBox Live". Maybe the thread was just especially full of children.

I remember people on Reddit (10 years ago) used to be knowledgeable and when new information appeared, that would matter. There's just so much ignorance now.

I don't think the barrier to entry for SaaS products is "how quickly can I create a shoddy front-end."

How could you possibly come to this conclusion while on an interview loop? Did you sit in on all these meetings?

ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on Reversing hearing loss with regenerative therapy
> And yes, I understand that suffering is relative and that there are worse things than Meniere’s disease, thank you.
ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on Reversing hearing loss with regenerative therapy
It’s funny to me seeing everyone in this thread acting like tinnitus is the worst shit ever and they’re suffering everyday. Look up Meniere’s disease. It can be so much worse.

And yes, I understand that suffering is relative and that there are worse things than Meniere’s disease, thank you.

ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on .NET Myths Dispelled
DuckDuckGo is looking for a senior .NET dev right now.
ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on .NET Myths Dispelled
Is there something confusing about just ".NET" as a brand moving forward? It was annoying at first when we went from .NET Framework -> .NET Core -> .NET in a short period of time, but it's just been .NET since then, which seems fine to me.

Nobody in this thread has mentioned WinUI yet (https://microsoft.github.io/microsoft-ui-xaml/) which makes me think very few people actually know what they're talking about here.

ukFxqnLa2sBSBf6··on Amazon more than doubles max base pay to $350k
I get contacted by Amazon recruiters multiple times a week. Now that I'm actively looking for a job, I thought I'd give them a chance. It would be good interview practice at the very least. So I take the online assessment and it turns out that one of the questions was a LeetCode Hard. Like... what? Did they want me to fail?
