Have working hours. Have calendar invites. It's required to make use of in person collaboration so do the same.
Ask them to let you run the the standup the way you want to run it one day as an experiment. Ask them what metrics and reports are being shared so you understand why this is a hill they will die on. Ask them to participate as peers during the ceremonies so they understand where you're coming from.
Ask why and explain why.
Sometimes I want to put my hands up in defeat and leave but there is also a satisfaction and growth from simplifying the Rube Goldberg machine.

A friend of mine is making a point & click adventure with Unity and has a playable demo on steam[1]. Unity and Steam (and their competitors) have truly made it possible for individuals and small teams to chase an idea to completion.
I think the quoted statement tends to be a systematic issue on struggling projects that describes the decision makers, regardless of role.
I'm not sure how anybody can expect other outcomes than a few lucky successes and a lot of failures when understanding why you are building something seems to be undervalued by management, technical or other.
I did actually tell one that the schedule of phone interviews (2) and video call rounds (4) was too much commitment without more details about the role and salary range. They responded with "if that's too much commitment the position is too".
