Agent forwarding support would be nice.
uggedal··on Why I run FreeBSD for my home servers (2024)
This is entirely false and the opposite is true. Debian has much more granular package splitting and less hard dependencies.
uggedal··on An annoyance with Debian postinstall scripts during package upgrades
dnf has recently added automatic restart support of systemd system services (and soon user services). It's opt-in per package, but expect things to restart more in the future.
uggedal··on An annoyance with Debian postinstall scripts during package upgrades
dnf has support for using the CoW support of Btrfs to make all the disk I/O more efficient. Might be why you're seeing dnf being more efficient, because my somewhat outdated experience is totally opposite.
uggedal··on Debian 11
Debian does not have release candidates. The installer does though.

uggedal··on Why the Boeing 737 will never take the place of the 757
The MAX is actually v4 after the original (-100/200), classic (-300/400/500) and NG (-600/700/800/900).
uggedal··on Swedes turn against cashlessness
In Norway it's "I'll vipps you 50 crowns" or "jeg vippser deg 50 kroner". The verb is actually in the Norwegian dictionary now.
uggedal··on Swedes turn against cashlessness
Sweden has Swish with over 4 million users.

Norway also has a hugely popular p2p payment app called Vipps with 2.7 million users.

Vipps AS | Backend Developer | Oslo, Norway | ONSITE

In Vipps we’re on a mission to make life easier for people and businesses through smart payments. Every day we are solving real life problems for our 2.7 million users and 50.000 merchants.

We started with simplifying peer-to-peer payments, where we replaced your account number with your phone number. Now we are working on drastically simplify the way people and businesses do payments. We have lots to do and are looking for a talented Backend Developer to join us.

Our various backend systems are currently written in Java and Go. They run in container services on the public cloud. We store the majority of our data in traditional relational databases. We strive to use the best tool for the job without getting religious in our technical choices. We care more about your general development skills than experience with any particular language or framework.

uggedal··on Nginx 1.9.11 with Dynamic Modules
The 1.9 series is unstable (mainline) while 1.8 is stable. Classic odd/even unstable/stable versioning.
uggedal··on Docker Official Images Are Moving to Alpine Linux
Alpine is not built by one guy. There is only one creator though.
uggedal··on Docker Official Images Are Moving to Alpine Linux
Those are indeed real people.
uggedal··on Docker Official Images Are Moving to Alpine Linux
Alpine is not managed by a single dev. There is no way for Alpine to coexist with Apt/RPM (where there are hundreds of diffrent distros/releases).

Luckily since this is Docker you can just use a 'fat' container as base if you need the CentOS/Fedora/Debian/Ubuntu platform.

(inactive Alpine dev).

uggedal··on CoreOS Overview, Part One
That is awesome! Congrats ncopa. Incidentally I ported go and then docker to Alpine Linux (musl and hardened toolchain fixes) almost 2 years ago:

uggedal··on Boycott systemd
Openrc does not provide a pid 1 init implementation. On most openrc systems sysvinit launces openrc to handle service startup.
