tw1984··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 series
I'd buy one on its public release date if it is linux ready.

A x2 based workstation will also be very cool.

tw1984··on More than 100k people in Japan are now aged 100 or older
or maybe because the Chinese have been flying the J-36 for 20 months that has a large enough internal weapon bay for PL-17.
tw1984··on MiMo v2.6
that is just for the RL
tw1984··on MiMo v2.6
> and the availability of good enough open weight models for their purposes

it is childish to believe Chinese are going to give up profits to provide such open weight models forever. the whole idea of being "open" is not compatible with the Chinese culture.

tw1984··on MiMo v2.6
it is pretty amazing to see a young & talented woman is the tech lead of this frontier model.

it is reasonable to question why America doesn't have such environment.

tw1984··on More than 100k people in Japan are now aged 100 or older
give yourself a break. F-35 doesn't even have long range a2a missiles comparable to PL-17 in service. its radar is 2nd class at best, a full generation behind the Chinese counterpart and heavily rely on Chinese rare earth.

it is 2026 now, partially de-industrialized US no longer has the best weapons in the world. that is why it is struggling to even beat Iran.

tw1984··on GPT-6 Astra
this basically says you don't believe there is real AI.
tw1984··on Yen weakens past ¥160 per dollar, eroding intervention gains
In 1985, USDJPY was around 250:1, why 160:1 is now a problem?

With almost all of its industries no longer in a leading position, with its car industry being demolished by EVs, 250:1 is what it is heading.

> They have unbelievable capital.

all those Chinese labs are backed by the Chinese government which can just print money.

time to wake up.

tw1984··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra
you are assuming the idea, the data, the code being touched by opus worths nothing.

how about measuring returns in the sense that I no longer need to share my flagship idea with some random 3rd party just because it hosts the LLM I am using?

tw1984··on Apple introduces M6 and M5 Ultra for a big leap in performance and AI compute
will be great fun if one M5 Ultra with 512GB memory at 1.2T bandwidth capable of doing 3x smallish local model inferencing each at Opus 4.5 level of intelligence.
tw1984··on Qwen 3.8-Flash-Next releasing tomorrow (125B a6B)
Qwen4 sounds exciting
tw1984··on Xiaomi: New CPU matches Apple cores single threaded, much faster multithreaded
> give the CCP a reason to invade. So it will only make things worse.

CCP is not threatening taiwan because it might go for independence. it is _ALL_ about kicking the US out of the west Pacific. because of that, it is never about what people in Taiwan believe/say/do.

It is only about the military balance of the west Pacific.

> And a lot of people are sympathetic with the Chinese, just not their government.

sympathetic of what?

20 years ago, you might be able to play the "CCP regime repressing the people in China" joke, you can't do it anymore especially in such topic of Taiwan. quality of life is significantly better in literally every aspect in China. Taipei in 2026 is getting more and more like a tier-3 Chinese city in 2016.

tw1984··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
> I would be happy to see a change there towards freedom, democracy and human rights but that doesn't seem to be in the cards.

because you have a western centric view on freedom, democracy and human rights. it is certainly not your fault, you were brainwashed to believe it, you are the victim.

when the US elected moron like Trump twice, with the congress full of traitors openly putting a foreign country's (which we are not allowed to name) interest first, when the UK has been in managed decline for decade, when the EU is literally ruled by far left extremists, you want to promote the western freedom and democracy? LOL

I take that as a joke.

tw1984··on Ox Alpha
as already suggested, buy and host your own inference system. just own both side of such "RCE". make sure you audit and use open source software for the entire stack.

you are just complaining on something that can be totally safeguarded. yes, it won't be cheap, it require a lot of work, welcome to the capitalist world.

loser mindset.

tw1984··on Ox Alpha
Chinese labs are not even in competition mode yet. You'd be seeing them paying you for each token you use when they are in that mode.
tw1984··on GLM-5.3 Artificial Analysis Benchmarks
With GPT/Claude, hiding those from users to waste their tokens is a feature, not a limitation.
tw1984··on GLM-5.3 Artificial Analysis Benchmarks
this is not very useful.

for over 1 billion real world users living in China, they don't have the option of paying $1.52 per task to use Opus 5, they are banned doing that due to US politics.

tw1984··on GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities
dario must be writing another angry essay arguing why his closed model AI is too dangerous to be used by others.
tw1984··on GLM-5.3: Frontier coding with emergent cyber capabilities
just imagine the world without these open weight models - we'd probably have to reverse mortgage our homes to pay for tokens to those trillion $ companies to have access to their models.
tw1984··on DeepSeek Harness developer preview
not very impressed.

in the era of AI, telling me that the core design is a plugin system that can be reloaded and extended easily is just not exciting.

it is something you feel excited 20 years ago back in the 2000s, in 2026, the expectation is agentic capabilities and self improving.

tw1984··on Stealing Reasoning Traces from Proprietary LLM APIs
nothing scientific here, they basically just figured out some real issues caused by bad engineering practice.
tw1984··on England set to be one of the first countries to eliminate hepatitis C

tw1984··on World Train Map – 1247 train routes around the world
according to this "map", there is only HSR train route from Shanghai to Hangzhou. in fact, it shows there are literally just HSR rails in China.

a highly inaccurate map is worse than not having such a "map".

tw1984··on Our position on open-weights models
China controls way more things, from medical needles to pharmaceutical ingredient.

Lots of them can be made in the west or west friendly countries, but that takes time, money, infrastructure and good execution. Yes, identical to what is covered in China's belt and road initiatives. See the gap now?

tw1984··on Our position on open-weights models
care to explain why all governors of Hong Kong under the british rule were white males?
tw1984··on DeepSeek pause fundraise after comments on compute gap to US leaked (transcript) [pdf]
If that is the case, it means one thing only - US labs don't have moat whatsoever and their expectation to have trillion dollar valuation is just laughable.
tw1984··on Startup founders urge U.S. government not to shut off Chinese open weight AI
stupidly large number of lawyers as well.

fixed for you.
