tw04··on September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy
I’m guessing the indiscriminate bombings of schools in Iran and Palestine are probably playing a role in his opinion.
tw04··on September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy
So are we getting there by exhausting the strategic reserve, by killing renewable projects, or by eliminating fuel efficiency standards?
tw04··on September 2026: The world today, as seen by one Polish guy
I’m hoping they don’t grow up in one the US shapes if it continues to be run by a dictator loving sexual predator who thinks corruption isn’t just ok, but a mandatory part of government.

It’s also rich saying that the US doesn’t negotiate with terrorists while watching Trump verbally fellate Putin at every given opportunity.

tw04··on AI needs $6T in annual revenue to justify data centre boom
Because they’ll be able to just fire all their employees and redirect the spend to AI. That’s the current delusion.
tw04··on When did Google get so weird?
Ahh yes - AI companies do indeed want it both ways. They want to be your single source for authoritative information about every subject on earth, but also want you to know everything they tell you could possibly be wrong so they can't be held accountable for results.

Can you imagine in the 1980s the Encyclopedia Brittanica salesman trying to sell you 5 figures worth of factual knowledge, only to tell you as you're writing him a check that: oh by the way we don't actually stand behind any of the information in these books, you'll need to verify any claims yourself.

tw04··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
And I’d argue if you’re saying we need to take complete end to end costs into account, oil isn’t profitable either.

If oil companies are ever on the hook for climate change, the bill will be measured in trillions.

tw04··on Fertility rate dropped over 50% within 10 years in Argentina
It is only a “devastating effect” if your only measure of success is unsustainable capitalistic growth.

If you measure it in terms of sustainable human life on earth, it was rather effective

tw04··on 'We hacked the FBI:' Hackers say they have data on all FBI employees
Have they ever even attempted to claim it’s only for good? I think at best they’ve gone with the: you need to give up a little privacy to catch the bad guys.

Followed up with a lot of “we just make the tool, we can’t be held responsible for how it’s used”.

tw04··on Global Shortage Has Led to Motor Oil Rationing at Costco
I would imagine if there is oil in the electric motors that is “lifetime” but test really probably 300k miles, so if you drive the car into the ground, you probably would want to service that at some point, assuming they are serviceable without destruction.
tw04··on CIA Releases President's Daily Briefs in Commemoration of 9/11
TBH the president should primarily be relying on trusted, competent advisors that they’ve surrounded themselves with. They can’t possibly be experts in enough areas to make unilateral decisions.

Which is probably why Biden didn’t attack Iran.

tw04··on More questions about whether researchers can trust OpenAI with unpublished math
> you would hope OpenAI has very good tools for this, but a full data trail of all inputs is difficult to trace through.

They have a financial incentive not to track any of this, so why would they?

OpenAI’s entire business model is predicated on stealing other people’s work and selling it to the masses.

tw04··on The car industry A/B tested selling a car with and without CarPlay
I won’t claim the A/B test is a good one, but I can say I canceled my blazer EV reservation when they announced it wouldn’t support carplay or android auto.
tw04··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
The question isn’t whether prisoners work in other countries which I’m confident you know and dodged.

The question is whether the prisons in Brazil are private, and are allowed to sell prison labor FOR A PROFIT, incentivizing both greater incarceration rates, and disincentivizing release.

The answer is no, I’m not aware of ANY other country that allows a private organization to profit off the labor if people imprisoned by the state. At least not any country we would consider 1st world.

It’s absolutely absurd to suggest the current situation is beneficial to anyone but the ruling class and anyone claiming otherwise has never been to prison, never had a relative or friend who has been to prison, or is literally a psychopath who lacks basic human empathy.

tw04··on Record-High 89% in U.S. Say Government Corruption Widespread
And does Brazil have their own 13th amendment that allows them to use prison labor as their modern slave workforce?
tw04··on Mamdani bans AI in NYC schools
Good? The amount of just flat out wrong information the average LLM spits out makes it unfit for education IMO. I can’t imagine asking teachers to have to personally vet every single lesson plan to ensure an AI wasn’t hallucinating when producing the content.
tw04··on FreeCORE TrueNAS Core – Continued
> They chose to base their enterprise on the work of others, only to pull the ladder up behind them.

This is literally why BSD exists in the first place. To allow companies compete freedom with the code, including freedom to not release changes.

I hate to break it to you: basically every commercial storage vendor on the planet bases their appliances on either BSD or Linux and not a single one is sharing their proprietary code with you. There’s nothing shameful about it, they built a company to make money.

tw04··on Taylor Farms: How One Company's Reach Became a National Risk
> but if you think the people selling lettuce at farmers markets or farm stands have any verified food safety or food handling expertise, they don't.

I don’t think they have the oversight corporate farmers do. But I also don’t think they put immigrants into the field for 12 hour days with no breaks and no bathroom.

There’s something to be said for a farmer who doesn’t pass explosive diarrhea onto the crops he sells me as food….

tw04··on The Government Report That Made Me Stop Trusting Our Statistical Agencies
Yes, one side wants radical things like universal healthcare, collective bargaining, a ban on citizens united.

The other wants to eliminate women’s suffrage, revoke citizenship because of skin color, and destroy pesky hindrances to business like the FCC, EPA, and protected federal lands.

Pretty much the same levels of extremism.

tw04··on Amazon hikes hardware prices by 60 percent, blaming memory shortage
We’re talking about the memory shortage that exists for all of us because AMAZON and all the other hyperscalers locked it down with long term commitments for huge purchases?

Pardon my skepticism that amazon is facing the same shortage that billy trying to build his first pc is facing…

tw04··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
Yes? The US is currently running out of oil. The strategic reserve has been drawn so low it is in danger of failing. The US economy is being propped up by an AI bubble, and the folks currently in charge of Iran are even more tied to Russia than the previous regime. And oh, by the way, when the US can’t draw down from the reserve any longer they’ll be forced to ease sanctions on Russian oil.
tw04··on Canada will match US tariffs 'dollar for dollar' as trade talks break down
As I’ve said from the beginning, just ask yourself: what would Putin want?

Every baffling, self destructive move Trump makes, basically always aligns to a long stated goal of Russia.

tw04··on Micron announces $10B research hub in Boise
The announcement being made by a CEO that wasn’t born in America is just the cherry on top. Can’t wait for the complete surprise when his citizenship is revoked. I imagine it will be something about “I thought they were just targeting the bad ones”.
tw04··on PM Carney announces largest clean energy investment in North American history
Decade not decades. Which coincides with… Trump’s first term.

tw04··on Pixel Watch 5
I’m willing to bet AI made that website and nobody bothered to verify.
tw04··on New Mexico court orders Meta to pay $567m over harms to children’s mental health
The fact the list ends at 2 women who were already named, when the men involved number in the hundreds and are still being protected, kind of ruins your point…
tw04··on New Mexico court orders Meta to pay $567m over harms to children’s mental health
To be clear, you want me to articulate a point that you fabricated and then attributed to me? I think I’m going to pass, but feel free to continue the discussion with yourself about things I didn’t say.
tw04··on New Mexico court orders Meta to pay $567m over harms to children’s mental health
The world would almost assuredly be a better place if 14 year olds were looking at playboy magazines instead of having easy access to every fetish under the sun. It has distorted many a young man’s ideas of intimacy and sexual relations.
tw04··on How Americans view capitalism, socialism and free enterprise
No, not all. I can only assume you've never even taken an entry level poli sci course, because socialism has never required COMPLETE ownership by the state. Furthermore, as I linked previously, in China it is north of 70% ownership by the state.

>But obviously this isn't how China is now and even state-owned companies in China generally operate in a market and can be in competition with private companies and other state-owned companies.

"Compete's in a market" is irrelevant to socialism. Again, basic poli sci, socialism encompasses both free market and captured market. What makes it socialism is government ownership of the means of production, with redistribution to the general populace.

>There are state-owned companies in all Western countries, by the way.

Right, and which western "capitalist" society has state ownerhsip of 70%+ of the "private" companies that make up its economy? Correct, 0. Socialism has never required the state to own all business in a given economy anymore than capitalism has required 0 ownership.

tw04··on Nashville uses eminent domain to block data center near zoo
Correct, it was absorbed by crypto bros. And now many of them are attempting to offload to AI. Ban crypto datacenters and there’s plenty of additional capacity available. There’s a reason China did almost a decade ago now.
tw04··on How Americans view capitalism, socialism and free enterprise
State ownership of companies is LITERALLY the definition of socialism.

> a theory or system of social organization that advocates the ownership and control of the means of production and distribution, capital, land, etc., by the community as a whole, usually through a centralized government.
