tuzemec··on Hobbyists beat professional designers in creating novel board games
I really enjoy Wingspan (https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/266192/wingspan)

It's not that hard and it's beautiful.

tuzemec··on How Distortion Works in Music
Dan Worrall's videos for FabFilter about distortion and saturation are great too:

Actually all the videos of Dan are amazing.

tuzemec··on Gamedev Tutorial: Trigonometry Basics – Sine and Cosine
I enjoyed the Coding Math series a lot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zm9bqSSiIdo

Here's the trigonometry playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAHl_kpqr-k&list=PL7wAPgl1JV...

tuzemec··on Learning Synths
I really liked the envelopes part. I had hard time grasping the idea back in the days.
tuzemec··on Valve has mutated from a game developer into a financial middleman
I buy something from Steam only if it's not on GOG. Games from GOG let you play them without the headaches of the launcher.

I don't play very often and when I finally find time for it, it looks like this: - clicking on the game icon - the launcher starts updating - the launcher restarts and asks for my account, because why not? - the game starts updating, often downloading patches above a GB ... and so on. And that applies for Steam, Bethesda Launcher and the rest of the bunch. And don't let me get started on the Bethesda Launcher because that thing alone takes 500MB of memory.

tuzemec··on Show HN: TB-303 Synth, Drum Machine and Sequencer in Web Audio
Wow... that little box sounds really nice. Probably I'll get one.
tuzemec··on Discovery of peculiar modulations in a small fraction of solar type stars
We are in the spotlight of a weird alien reality show?
tuzemec··on Google recommends inlining small CSS
It's quite common to have such classes if you work with some kind of CMS system. In one of my previous companies we had bunch of similar classes that allowed basic layout adjustments (like margins, paddings, font-sizes). It's quite handy if you want to just edit the html and do not touch the css files at all.
tuzemec··on A Beginner's Guide to the Synth
I have a Virus and a microBrute. Maybe I'll get a subphatty or something like that these days. It's great to play with real knobs. But when it comes to making a real track I prefer the vsts. Diva is simply amazing. Monark is so close to a real moog. The convenience of not bouncing/recording to audio track is importand to me. The sound quality of the VSTIs these days is good enough. And if my stuff doesn't sounds good - it's on me. Not the tools and the synths.
tuzemec··on SSD Prices in a Free Fall
Also the noise of the HDDs is killing me. I have quite a silent rig (fiddling with music/audio in my spare time) and the most noisy thing was the HDD where my audio samples were. So I've moved everything to SSD and I'm looking for another 512GB to add.
tuzemec··on Show HN: Twenty
Love that variant. Much more relaxing.
tuzemec··on Gravity Simulator
Relevant: http://codingmath.com/ Really nice series, showing how to do vectors, gravity and so on in JS.
tuzemec··on Aviation is stuck in the 60s – a reflection on MH 370
The moment we saw bunch of aviation articles on HN and that plane disappears. Coincidence?

tuzemec··on Ask HN: Female hacker-founder AMA
There's a lot of girls in the IT over here. When I think about it - most of the QAs that I know are female :-)
tuzemec··on Ask HN: Female hacker-founder AMA
I remember the local "pioneers home" (what's the translation of "пионерски дом" actaully?) not having floppy disc controllers for their Pravetz 82 machines. So we had to type small BASIC games found in magazines in order to play. Typing to play ratio was usually 1/1.

Good luck with the project!

tuzemec··on XCOM JavaScript port
The new release from Fire Axis seems kinda limited and stripped down compared to the original XCOM. Especially in terms of equipment/soldiers loadout, research, etc...
tuzemec··on XCOM JavaScript port
Since it uses Unreal engine and we see what happens with asm.js... maybe it's not all that scary.
tuzemec··on Free Games: Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics
Backed that on Kickstarter. Seems that the project is going well. Can't wait for the release.
tuzemec··on Today's Google Doodle: Grace Hopper
Wow... amazing person!
tuzemec··on Graph.tk
Nice one. Wish I can easily grab a certain generated graph and use it as a waveform in a synth. Just for... science.
tuzemec··on Voyager 1 has been traveling for about a year through plasma between stars
Love Hyperion so much. Maybe it's about time to read it again.
tuzemec··on Anonymous Pro – a fixed-width font designed for coders
Am I the only one who uses Courier New with no aliasing? Everything else looks weird to me.
tuzemec··on The Great Language Game: How many languages can you distinguish between?
950 and I went twice against my initial hunch and lost :-)
tuzemec··on Logic Pro X
I can recommend Studio One: http://studioone.presonus.com/ It have fully functional trial and kinda flexible pricing model. I've switched to it from Cubase year ago and I don't look back.
tuzemec··on EJDB: Embedded JSON Database for C/C++, .Net, NodeJS, Python, Lua, Java, Ruby
Exactly my case. I have this web scraping based on scrapy and I was dealing with some big json files. I'll try it for sure.
tuzemec··on Music to Let you Concentrate

tuzemec··on Show HN: Yoleo – A Beautiful RSS Reader
So far, so good. But the importing from google reader is hella slow. Guess a lot of people are trying it out right now.
tuzemec··on Sound Sensor Failure
I feel the same... probably because of my tinnitus :(
tuzemec··on Good Old Games: gog.com and the DRM-Free Revolution
Yeah, I can't remember when TF2 started for under 5 mins... :( I play like 3-4 times a month and every single time I've got steam update, tf2 update, long logging times and apart of that the steam client became really heavy on my (probably above average) machine.
