tuyguntn··on Korean students seek 'digital undertakers' amid US visa social media screening
Why do you allow then foreign lobby groups?

Or why did you allow Elon to participate in elections, he was a foreigner at some point and he wasn't born in America?

tuyguntn··on Korean students seek 'digital undertakers' amid US visa social media screening
> "if someone is willing to fight for anything other than the current administration then one day they might fight against the current administration directly."

So what? isn't the core idea in democracy "ruled by the people", Why can't you fight against the current administration with your opinion and opposition to their ideas?

tuyguntn··on Korean students seek 'digital undertakers' amid US visa social media screening
it's strange that you are comparing democracy with a communism.

Wasn't the whole premise of democracy to express yourself freely and the core idea was "rule by the people"?

If country claims that they are democracy, then they should give people to add their opinion to rule the country, China is following its own core idea, ruled by a single party.

tuyguntn··on Korean students seek 'digital undertakers' amid US visa social media screening
So many things are being done to protect a single country outside of the USA, even on a different continent, including losing its credibility about free speech and human rights.

Do you think US embassy will reject political activism if it was against China?
tuyguntn··on Ask HN: How do you create a Facebook account?
Yes, I know :)

But I need it for my business

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: How do you create a Facebook account?
there might be a correlation in the demographic chart to what you are saying: https://recurpost.com/blog/facebook-statistics/

largest chunk seems to be between 25-34, who got their accounts setup, younger generation going to tiktok/snapchat, older generation (like myself) giving up creating an account probably

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: How do you create a Facebook account?
I am constantly seeing an appeal screen with this message:

    XYZ, you submitted an appeal
Check back here for the result.
Your account is not visible to people on Facebook, and you can't use it.
    ...
after 2 days, I see account banned message. Tried with bunch of my personal emails with different domains, on a different locations with different IPs.

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: Is ageism in tech still a problem?
> I did it right the first time.

Maybe you are writing libraries/frameworks?

Any service running on production can fail anytime, whether you did everything right or not, things break sometimes.

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: Is ageism in tech still a problem?
> should be coached out

No, it won't work. Biologically, 25 years old without a family responsibilities will not get it anyway.

If you are 25 years old, single and your friends are similar to you, what would you do? Most I know are working 12-14 hour/day, because they eat breakfast, lunch and dinner at work.

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: Is ageism in tech still a problem?
> Your kid is better off not going to school for a day, or arriving late. They're not doing anything important in school.

Not sure, if you are serious.

Maybe we should become slaves of corporations? Should we divorce maybe with our partners because sometimes we go dining and on-call is more important than me having a dinner with my partner?

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: Is ageism in tech still a problem?
Yes, when 50 years old applies as a senior engineer, 25 years old senior engineers get uncomfortable. You might not notice it in any public conversation, but there is still a resistance:

   * will they be on-call?
   * can they work long hours?
   * how do I delegate to them?
   * are they going to resist new tech?
tuyguntn··on Israel launches strikes against Iran, Defense Minister says
> The Trump admin’s foreign policy is to allow Netanyahu to operate autonomously. The same they offer ICE.

to be honest, by now, it feels like the opposite, Netanyahu is allowing Trump admin to operate autonomously when it comes to internal affairs, for foreign policy Netanyahu is dictating the US foreign policy.

Go check Twitter, for some reason 90% of congress members immediately started praying for Israel after Israel's attack, as if they were handed over the message

tuyguntn··on Uber Just Reinvented the Bus Again
I wonder what's the purpose of collecting tax from citizens, if there is no properly run public transportation system, medical system and education.

Why should anyone pay extra from their income, if private companies are going to profit from providing a service to the public which was intended to be built using taxes by the government?

tuyguntn··on Anthropic co-founder on cutting access to Windsurf
By this logic NVIDIA should cut off Claude, because Claude is reselling their GPU hours, when NVIDIA itself can do it.

IMHO, there are 3 types of products in current LLM space (excluding hardware):

   * Model makers - OpenAI, Claude, Gemini
   * Infra makers - Groq, together.ai and etc
   * Product makers - Cursor, Windsurf and others
If Level 1 can block Level 3 this easily, that's a problem for industry in my book. Because there will be no trust between different types of companies, when there is no trust, some companies become monopoly with a bad behavior, bad for customers/users
tuyguntn··on Anthropic co-founder on cutting access to Windsurf
This seems odd to me, I don't expect bakery to reject selling me a bread this morning, because I started working in another bakery nearby.
tuyguntn··on Anthropic co-founder on cutting access to Windsurf
I don't know what kind of agreement they had, or any agreement at all, but with this move, Anthropic is showing itself as an unreliable provider.

It's same as: We can cut access anytime, "I think it would be odd for us to be selling Claude to <YOUR_COMPANY>"

tuyguntn··on AWS forms EU-based cloud unit as customers fret
Thanks for being here. Hopefully you can answer some more questions.

If company is owned by US entity (AWS/Amazon), can it also block customers by the US government request, similar to how MSFT blocked ICC access to its email service?

Yes, yes and yes again!

Also, please don't use GIFs in your demos! It's freaking me out, because the speed of your GIF playback doesn't match my information absorption speed and I can't pause, look closely, go back, I just need to wait the second loop of your GIF

tuyguntn··on What's been your biggest technical bottleneck as a small startup lately?
when I was building my own side projects my biggest bottleneck was everything around the product.

   - polished landing page
   - SEO
   - marketing and branding materials
   - setting up social accounts: Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, LinkedIn
   - preparing basic CI/CD to be able to quickly deploy changes
   - setting up ads across many ad services like Google, Facebook and etc,.
   - setting up CNAMEs, records for email deliverability
tuyguntn··on Stuff I Learned at Carta
I have yet to see fully transparent leadership who can immediately tell us that this information is confidential and unfortunately they can't share it.

In my humble experience ranging from startups to Big Tech, they are vague with words they use, inspirational in nature, but tries to hide the systematic issues.

For example: I believe our team is now stronger than ever before. How should I interpret it? You were B-player, and hired bunch of C-players, you have just laid off them or did you get rid of bunch of corporate empire builders and now we are indeed in a better position with less bureaucracy?

tuyguntn··on Microsoft-backed UK tech unicorn Builder.ai collapses into insolvency
Why is this a big news, didn't we already learn that most startups/companies fail and investors are just betting to find their next unicorn?

contrary to builder.ai, we now have success stories in this area: lovable, cursor, replit agents and so on

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: AI Reading List

tuyguntn··on Stuff I Learned at Carta
> The bulk of the responsibility is, and should be, on the leader to avoid misunderstandings in the first place.

How do you avoid misunderstandings as an executive when you sometimes literally should hide the information?

I heard many many executives (probably, that's why I am not an executive), a lot of them try to hide information for different reasons. Even the technical one's are trying to keep doors open for interpretation, so that anytime they can change their mind and blame team for the failure, then label them for layoffs

tuyguntn··on Ask HN: Cursor or Windsurf?
is deepseek fast enough for you? For me the API is very slow, sometimes unusable
tuyguntn··on Ask HN: If 1 person can control 10 AI agents, why would still need that person?
Because agents don't have a concept of accountability, even if they're capable enough to replace coordinator, we (humans) probably not going to let them do important things, we always want to have a final say, otherwise how do you know where it is going?

Imagine you are a trader and asked agents to build you a perfect trading system and they discuss every next buy/sell and take a call to execute the action.

How do you know in the long term you are making money? What if they decided to cheat on you and started buying stocks which will definitely crash in 1 month, while showing you a progress of profit by day trading other stocks. Would you just let them do what they're doing?

tuyguntn··on 'It cannot provide nuance': UK experts warn AI therapy chatbots are not safe
I think you are right, on one hand we have human beings with own emotions in life and based on their own emotions they might impact negatively others emotion

on the other hand probabilistic/non-deterministic model, which can give 5 different advises if you ask 5 times.

So who do you trust? Until determinicity of LLM models gets improved and we can debug/fix them while keeping their deterministic behavior intact with new fixes, I would rely on human therapists.

tuyguntn··on Sam Altman Wants Your Eyeball
P.S. Not blaming him for this behavior, probably I would also change my mind immediately if someone offered me 7% of $300B
