truebecomefalse··on Show HN: I'm 13 and This is My First App
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astroturfing

Please don't make a habit of it. I think it is awesome that you are young and programming! I wrote my first kernel module around your age and never regretted learning programming very early. You should stick with it and you will go places.

PS: I'm sure you would have made the front page without the deception.

truebecomefalse··on iPhone Uber-Hacker Comex Is Out At Apple
Maybe there will be a new anonymous jail-breaker on the scene?
truebecomefalse··on iPhone Uber-Hacker Comex Is Out At Apple
So does this mean a jailbreak for iPhone 5 will be coming soon?
truebecomefalse··on Free Online Education Is Now Illegal in Minnesota
Source?
truebecomefalse··on [dead]
Thanks!
truebecomefalse··on [dead]
2005? I feel like an archeologist. Can you please properly tag this with, [2005], it is certainly not current news.
truebecomefalse··on Google Earnings Come Early; Shares Drop
I have two glass blocks tied to 6 pre-ordered glass units that say otherwise with regard to glass. Unless, nominally, something that is pre-ordered is vaporware until the minute it hits my hands.

There are also people outside of Google that already have Glass units.

truebecomefalse··on Minnesota Gives Coursera the Boot, Citing a Decades-Old Law
This is so backwards but so are many of the laws that are on the books in many states.
truebecomefalse··on As Surface Goes On Sale Today, Microsoft Seeks to Reinvent The Tablet
I just don't want to see any pixels from 10-15 inches away when I'm using it in bed. I doubt the surface will be able to accomplish this feat. I have superb vision and cannot discern pixels on an iPad unless it is within a couple inches of my nose.
truebecomefalse··on Referly (YC S12) Raises $1M To Bring Affiliate Commerce To Everyone
Thanks for mentioning loved.by. I had never heard of them. AFAIK the Referly team started working on the idea about two years ago about when loved.by first debuted.

I think Refer.ly could work if they add enough value to the end user by aggregating every imaginable affiliate service into one and offering some sort of easy to understand and consistent metrics across all of them.

truebecomefalse··on New Android Maps API around the corner?
The Field Trip app belongs to Google right? So that would be google's api key then?
truebecomefalse··on Facebook has 1 billion monthly active users
It was a small project. Generates about ~$600/month in passive profit.
truebecomefalse··on Facebook has 1 billion monthly active users
I'm also a few... and about 10,000 of twitters MAUs.
truebecomefalse··on Ask HN: Those of you who signed up for App.net. Are you actually using it?
Signed up, reserved name and I am now waiting for it to be something useful.
truebecomefalse··on We need to change startup culture: Gender Edition
I've interviewed over 200 applicants... three or four were women and like all but a few of the 200 applicants they were dreadfully unqualified. I guess that is why we have a 100% male company now at 10 employees. I wish this were different, I really do. Give me a 50/50 gender company and I would be a happy man. Sadly from where I am sitting it does not even seem remotely possible.

I'm thinking we need to fix social stigmas against female engineers at a much lower level.

truebecomefalse··on Show HN: Bubbles - my unfinished HTML5 Particle Game
If you hold down left and right it gets very odd. It is reproducible.
truebecomefalse··on Droids Will Replace Work?
flagged as blogspam.
truebecomefalse··on MyVR (YC W12) raises $1.4M to attack the vacation rental industry
Agreed. I thought they were some sort of virtual reality company.
truebecomefalse··on iOS app piracy soars
It is very old news that any iPhone app can be cracked easily. This article has no information at all related to the amount of actual piracy going on.

'99% of all apps have been cracked!' != '99% of all app downloads are theft'

truebecomefalse··on Microsoft: Hey, Apple Maps haters, Use Bing for iPhone instead
Sadly the bing app won't when I click 'Directions' in the Yelp App. I wish apple were not such control freaks and we could have the intent system in iOS... even if it was an advanced feature hidden in some obscure menu.
truebecomefalse··on Driverless Cars Get Green Light in California
While I agree, the problem lies, as in most cases, with our education system in this country. The general public has proven time and time again to have a very tenuous grasp of mathematics.
truebecomefalse··on Deadmau5 Withholding His Latest Album from Spotify
If this becomes common won't that kind of kill the utility of Spotify?
truebecomefalse··on Flight Hacking: 5 Music Festivals, 6 Weeks, 3 Continents
I can't wait to use this for a vacation. Are you all getting into the hotel and event booking too? I could see that making this service even more amazing.
truebecomefalse··on 3D printer community revolting against Makerbot's new closed-source printer
I supported Makerbot because of their commitment to the open source software and hardware community. If that changes then they will lose me as a customer. I actually paid a premium for their Replicator printer because I believed in their philosophy. Now that they are funded by a VC it seems they have strayed from that path. Let's hope they can bring it back. If not I'll go with the cheaper and more capable alternatives to the Makerbot printers.
truebecomefalse··on How hackers will jailbreak the iPhone 5
Extremetech.com has never prided itself on in-depth journalism.
truebecomefalse··on Where Will the Jobs be in 2020? (hint: not tech)
How is this trash on the front page?
truebecomefalse··on YouTube launches their iPhone app
"Youtube Google" Seemed to work for me.
truebecomefalse··on Cindy Gallop’s Online Effort to Promote ‘Real,’ Not Porn-Fed, Sex
I think sites like reddit.com/r/sex already provide rich community discussion about sexuality and sex.
truebecomefalse··on First Month on app.net – Charts and Stats
Proof? I can't see my credit card in my account settings.
truebecomefalse··on Apple announces September 12 media event
Very important...sometimes. I had someone order 100 of the wrong generation once... We needed front facing camera in out setup. I'm not sure how typical our use case was but there was another 10,000 item order of the correct generation after the contract completed.
