There isn't more land to build roads on, and tunneling for roadways is extremely expensive and prone to delays (eg. SR 99 tunnel), esp. compared to our rail tunnels which have been repeatedly completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
Even the newer buildings being built right on Denny and Queen Anne Ave N in Belltown are entirely the creation of zoning, as they are height capped and forced to subsidize parking (which rents for $0.XX per sqft a month) over usable space that rents for dollars a square foot. Most of the people living and working in that area are using transit, with 70% not driving: https://www.seattle.gov/transportation/docs/2014TrafficRepor...
The Archdiocese of the Seattle Catholic Church needs to crack down on that, as they run the majority of the private schools in the city.
If the property manager tries this, its a sure sign that they are an ass. Also, the market seems to be cooling, one nicely remodled place I toured dropped to $1500 from $1700 for 950sqft 2 bed/1 bath in Queen Anne, then rented a week later. Seen a couple others do that, figure it should become more common as we get into summer.
VoLTE could improve the situation, if we could get the HD audio to actually make it off the cell carrier's network. Currently, no US Cell Carrier does so tho.
Nevermind the nanny state about porn, both viewing and creation, or drugs. Makes Washington State or Colorado look like lawless states in comparison, and yet they still have a ton of nanny state rules that help no one.
Portland meanwhile has notably worse public schools, often making it appear that you should pay for private schooling. That being said, quality is still lacking in private schools there, I saw many students left behind that would have learned how to read months earlier in Seattle.

Booster bags will be a major issue for Amazon's stores if they ever launch this.
You essentially either need a power drop to each section of shelving, or you have to replace batteries on every sign through your store every X months or years.
But yeah, if your going to make shitposting, throwaway alts with no investment or risk to put your "valuable" opinion out there, you deserve a downvote. This is not Reddit, we can't quarantine throwaways to a particular subreddit.
As far as I can discern, they literally do not give a crap and do the bare minimum to get a half working Linux BSP so they can run an ancient version of Android. Then it gets used for your security camera, and that is why you have 20 shitty IP cams running kernel 2.6 calling home to Hunan Province.
That BSP will rarely be released to the public, much less mainlined, and it is sure to be mixing proprietary code with GPL'ed code. *BSD doesn't even factor into the equation, since GPL compliance doesn't matter to Allwinner or Rockchip.
Outside of that, its all Windows for the smaller chains, Truno and similar will not talk to them, so they get to deal with NCR who sells them a meh system based on whatever the last supported version of Windows is. Even smaller and you get into PCAmerica (Windows) or Clover (Android/Linux).
On the embedded front ($X to $XX) BSD supports fewer platforms than Windows for IoT, you can't even boot it on your average ARM board or MIPS router. Only in high end consoles ($XXX) has Sony & Nintendo chosen to use BSD, which requires a substantial amount of work, but there is significant perceived value by making locked down "consoles" that can only run their signed software.
Definitely we need to get rid of First Past the Post, but while our parties are polarized, they are both far to the right of the vast majority of voters.
> What if I like guns but I want universal healthcare?
That is actually fairly common. Gun control can be done in a nuanced way, and we can have more guns with few instances of gun violence esque Switzerland if we train our populace to properly secure and disarm their guns when not being actively used.
Comparatively, people like my great grandfather thought it was fine to leave a dozen or more loaded guns of varying types all throughout the house. Not great when a shotgun falls out from behind the stove and nearly gets ya.
> What if I want a smaller government but I also want great environmental policies?
Hard to do, small gov't = small town corruption if you look at areas that take this approach.
> The US system was ok in the 18th century but now it's a relic. Some things don't age well.
Definitely, we need to update our antiquated political system.
We only feel alone because both parties are bought and owned by multi-nationals, and don't give a shit about what most people want. First Past the Post ensures a 3rd party will cause carnage if it ever did rise, splitting the vote and not electing the candidate most voters would prefer.
Look at Wolf PAC in Connecticut closing 26 points of a 36 point gap by beating the streets with 500 volunteers[1], or Bernie in West Virginia going to town hall after town hall and talking to people about the very real issues that affect their lives.
We can convert the "unwinnable" "red" states if we only dare put in the effort to beat the streets and call people, have one on one interaction and talk about issues that matter. Jobs, healthcare, workers rights, when you connect to people, even if you disagree with a person about "divisive" issues, they can often feel you are out there fighting for a better future for them and their family.
So get out there, go join Wolf PAC, Our Revolution/Woke, go to a Womens Day protest, a BLM protest and fight for a better future. If we take action, we can create change!
