Wait that was real? I thought it was a bot setup.
trinsic2··on It's Time to Investigate the AI Labs
IMHO I think this false. The are liberals complicit in the same things that are keeping the wheels of this train wreck going. When I say there is no will power on both sides, I mean it. There are plenty of people in power on the other side supporting authoritarian agendas. So with respect, I disagree that the only thing that keeps this going is one party in power.
trinsic2··on America.gov goes crazy on "play Minecraft"
It is also important to call things like they are. There is a line between speaking the truth and being apathic. Im not sure that the line has been crossed myself. He is right though, Hackernews and a lot of people are acting like this isnt a real problem. Hackernews often flags things that call attention to these matters and many users downvote people that try to call attention to what is happening.
trinsic2··on Ask HN: What are you reading?
I just finished "The Emergency". Heard about it on Reading Hannah Arendt with Roger Berkowitz [0]. Is a fictional story about what it might be like if a modern government empire collapses. Im interested in writers that are thinking about the future.

Im not much on communism because I think it can go horribly wrong in the other direction but this guy has a point about populism[0].

We keep falling for the same tricks, over and over again. There is no possibility in the current structure of government for this to be a win for the people. For anything to work, we need a structural change in the entire system.

I'm sorry the parent is right. There is no policital will power to do anything about this from either side. Criminality is being allowed on both sides of the spectrum. Institutionalists are on the side of criminality. It keeps them in power
trinsic2··on 2DWillNeverDie
Great design. Almost felt like I could play a game right on the page. I'm on mobile right now so can see the interactivity
trinsic2··on F-Droid 2.0
Good point thanks for the clarification. I'll remember that moving forward.
trinsic2··on F-Droid 2.0
It seems to me this is a blocker to use if google can restrict sideloading like this. Its not going to end with just get people requiring to register their app with an identity. Wont they be able to put presser on f-droid devs to lock out software they consider a threat to some business model?
trinsic2··on Seattle City Council votes to ban surveillance pricing in sale of groceries
You should probably start with an amendment to end citizens united fist. That law is making all of this possible.
trinsic2··on OpenAI breaches Medicare, Albanese reveals
There using this framing to get the public used to the idea that LLMS can do all of this on there own without direct instruction. So criminals can hide there behavior behind agents.
trinsic2··on I said no and Apple said yes
Im on PopOS and I had one boot problem where I had to pop in a ubuntu flash drive to run boot repair on, but that was like 3 years ago. There are definitely issues that come up sometimes when I upgrade to a new kernel version but it mundane stuff like my printer wont scan duplex. But now AI just helps me fix that stuff I don't spend too much time on it.

I wrote an article on my transition [0]

trinsic2··on The Claude Delusion
Maybe I am missing the point of the article, but it seems to me that there's always an intender. Maybe the intender created something that doesnt have intent, but there is always someone behind the scenes that is creates the intent behind the creation that lacks it.

I'll also say that for someone that doesnt believe in god, Corey sure has a good sense of right and wrong. Not that you need to believe in god to live a moral life.

trinsic2··on I can't stop thinking about Papua New Guinea
This isnt romanticizing premodern world. Modern doesn't equal better, but I understand the knee jerk reaction to calling out the serious problems with our current society that nobody wants to face.
trinsic2··on I can't stop thinking about Papua New Guinea
Im kind of sad that tribes, who have never been exposed to the modern world, get exposed to the damaging effects of materialism. It reminds me of that film "The gods must be crazy" [0]

[0]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gods_Must_Be_Crazy

The moral of the story is that things, when they are coveted, can destroy our humanity. I feel like we are destroying ourselves with modernity and to bring that to a culture like this is dangerous.

trinsic2··on Israeli Minister Threatens Filmmakers' Citizenship over Gaza Documentary
I know it looks like an effort to deliberately fragment the narrative
trinsic2··on How to write an effective software design document
I disagree. Having a design doc would have saved me some time having to rewrite certain parts of a CRM system I am working on in Obsidian[0]. Not having a plan on handling certain aspects up from can make more work.

I think this is a good idea. Thanks to the author.

trinsic2··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
Exactly. Just follow the patterns. Its pretty obvious.
trinsic2··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
It will remain this way in slightly differnt shades of colors until there is a systemic change. IM sorry this isn't a one party problem. There are people across the isle that are allowing this to continue.

Im not in support of any party btw. Im only in support of humanity doing humane things.

trinsic2··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
There is no such thing as a Corporate person. Sounds like a something that was created by a legal system for people to absolve themselves of responsibility.
trinsic2··on OpenAI bots knew about the RubyGems caching vulnerability
Yes! AI companies can get by with anything now. They can just say its the AI that did it, not us... We are in some real shit right now. If we cant make individuals responsible for their creations..
trinsic2··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
this whole idea that AI is intelligent really reminds me of flat earthers. Stupid people think stupid things while social media algorithms drive this stupidity, and people come to believe things that are insane.
trinsic2··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
It wont be adopted because we unconciously need to avoid responsibility of showing up as responsible human beings. Hence western civilization will crash and burn unless we start rethinking the way we operate.
trinsic2··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
Agreed. The whole pointing fingers bit is us wanting to distract ourselves from responsibility of either looking at how we enable the problem, or avoiding responsibility of taken action towards resolving it.
trinsic2··on LG denies TV spying claims, says tracking and snooping concerns 'not true'
Watch the GamersNexus video. Its all there.
trinsic2··on Why are AI agents lying, cheating and coordinating?
Yep this was my first gut reaction to this whole situation. But the difference for me is that society is allowing these corporations to act without strict rules on how they behave and this is a byproduct of a corrupt world. Nothing will change until there is a complete systemic shift in the structures the way we live and by extension the way we govern ourselves and treat each other.
trinsic2··on LG denies TV spying claims, says tracking and snooping concerns 'not true'
Im not sure if you read up on the situation, but the current smart TV's surveillance functions are way beyond what anyone should have to deal with.

They scan and connect to near Wifi devices to send data without consent There is communications being done through HDMI.

I mean what is it going to take for people to realize that getting smart TV, for any reason, is really dumb.

trinsic2··on LG denies TV spying claims, says tracking and snooping concerns 'not true'
I think it would be less time consuming to build one yourself.
