treadmill··on Self-Driving bus in Sweden crashes with tram on first day of passenger service
Building self driving vehicles with current tech will not work reliably and is a bad idea.

We will learn this the hard way.

I am unsure which part of the quoted content you disagree with .

I may be out of the loop here, can someone fill me in on the context?

treadmill··on Ask HN: How do you find the "why" behind old code decisions?
Read the BDD style acceptance tests that were written during development. This is the one chance you get to preserve that knowledge when it fresh and correct. Asking someone three years later (even the original dev) is no substitute. Oh, and you can also run the tests to ensure correctnes.
treadmill··on Microsoft denies rewriting Windows 11 in Rust using AI
Talk is cheap. Remind me of this, if/when the "will build" has changed to "has built".

treadmill··on Formatting code should be unnecessary
You're misunderstanding the idea I think.

You would use the format on disk for the grep. "Your format" only exists displayed in your editor.

treadmill··on Gtk3-classic: Patches to bring back a traditional experience for GTK+3
Brilliant that somebody did this, have to give it a try!
treadmill··on Conventional Commit Messages
This is overcomplicating something simple for dubious benefit. Just write a concise subject line for the change and short description or a list of bullet points what you changed/added/removed and why.

Not everything has to have rules for some regular format.

treadmill··on Making the Python back end for my new webapp
> where multiple teams will work in the same codebase / repo

This is a bad idea in general and leads to all sorts of problems.

treadmill··on A Journey from Linux to FreeBSD
If I recall correctly, a certain amount of CPU, memory and processes has been reserved for root for a long time on FreeBSD. This would prevent the from bomb from exhausting all resources.

treadmill··on Smoking bans are coming: what does the evidence say?

Homelessness is literally trivial to fix. It is shameful that our society decides not to.
treadmill··on Does the Hypershell Really Work?
"Preorder", "AI powered". This is not reassuring that this product will actually exist at any time in the future.

Remember the self filling water bottle.

treadmill··on Techie saved the day and was then criticized for the fix
So, what he did wrong was this: He took a great personal risk (deciding break the lock) for something that was done wrong in whatever organization this was (there was no procedure for an outage to like this) and with nothing to gain.

He should have reported the outage and the missing key, maybe recommended a suitable emergency procedure and called it a day.

treadmill··on Posts About Broken Cybertrucks Fill Tesla Owners' Forums
I actually thought for the longest time that the cyber truck was an over the top meme/joke. I was astounded to find out it was real.

Once and for all!
