Lolz. The comments here are seriously motivating me to set something up to 0wn people who pipe curl output into random commands. How dense can you get.
treadmill··on Why Both the Hype and the Fud over AI Are Overblown
> It is sufficient that it makes most programmers orders of magnitude more productive.

It doesn't, do that though. It can currently only generate (bad) code for trivial problems.

treadmill··on Why mechanical keyboards are so junky?
I have two WASDs (https://www.wasdkeyboards.com/), they are great! No issues whatsoever.

Looks like it is usable.

treadmill··on Hermit crabs are using trash as shells
> The environment has never been stable, not once in the history of the environment. It is constantly changing.

You are making a false equivalence here. That fact that the environment changes naturally does not mean, that it doesn't matter how we influence it.

treadmill··on Germany – Insane or Just Plain Stupid?
2012. Ten years later the insanity of the claims in this propaganda piece is even more visible.
treadmill··on Linux distros are about to get killer Windows feature: The Blue Screen of Death
This is actually useful and portable (e.g. also works serial console). QR Codes are not.

I actually scrolled up to check this was not an April fools article.

treadmill··on Code of Ethics
Ugh. Religion is so cringe.
treadmill··on Sellafield: Europe’s most toxic nuclear site
It really is not comparable. Sellafield also does spent fuel reprocessing and, like all nuclear energy production, poisons the environment during regular operation: https://www.theguardian.com/uk/1999/nov/20/paulbrown
treadmill··on We have used too many levels of abstractions
Ugh, why do they want me to register to access a free course.

Can you expand on this please? What exactly makes it easy to scale in which way?

treadmill··on Yes, There Is a Cure for Bullshit
An example where it was done wrong absolutely does not prove that something is not possible.

You need to apply some critical thinking to your position on this topic ;)

treadmill··on Yes, There Is a Cure for Bullshit
> you cannot "educate" people to do critical thinking

Why would you think that? It is a learned skill, of course you can.

treadmill··on ‘Everyday Utopia’ Review: The Road to Nowhere
> The problem is always going to be human nature.

Or maybe human nature can be the greatest asset. If you teach them right. If they have better experiences in early life, without constant competition and stress put on them. If they don't grow up in a capitalist system. If kindness is the default response to your fellow human.

> You will only achieve communal ownership of property by force.

What makes you think that?

treadmill··on Iron fuel shows its mettle
> iron oxide. Which means you first have to put in energy to reduce it to pure iron

And the article doesn't even hint at any way to do this using renewable energy. Which makes me suspect that no such process exists.

treadmill··on Iron fuel shows its mettle
> you could use renewable electricity to produce iron

Is there a known process to do this? At the moment most iron production is using coal.

Edit: Also, what about nitrogen oxides? Almost any combustion with air produces them to some degree and they are harmful pollutants. The article never mentions them.

treadmill··on I Still Use Windows 95 (2008)
This.

treadmill··on PHP Popularity: Is it decreasing and what to do about it?
Accelerate it any way imaginable.
treadmill··on I still Lisp (2021)
>Lisp is so much better than pretty much every other programming language

>I don't even use it, despite having such a near-worshipful attitude towards it.

How do you know that it is so much better then?
