Agree the slider needs some tweaks, or at least ticks. If I am in between two states do it affect things? Seems like I have to move pretty far over to move to the next "response."
Amazing first step. I made my original CV in Indesign so updating became very easy, but changing layout was hard. Would love to see "widgets" you could move around the CV. Like a new education box to drag over or move around the page. Being able to control the layout is the hard part and you have the opportunity to make it really easy here!
To show of the functionality for first time page landers you should pre-populate with a popular article url. I had to open a new tab and find an article to test. I almost didn't come back. Almost, but glad I did!
There is a great story in Ed catmull's new book creativity inc that tells how the handled the time when rm -rf ~/* was run on the Toy Story II servers, deleting 90% of the finished film weeks before the release. Not a problem till they realized the backup system failed. I won't spoil how it ended but they recovers (not technical solution) but shows how to handle random screw ups. The book is a great read in general as it showcase their techical achievement as well as how to manage a creative culture.
That's a really great question. I know it's her coach saying this, ‘Coach, I don’t know how much time I have left, so I want to run fast — don’t hold back,’, but hoping it's the latter. Either way, made me feel fairly lazy about not getting out of bed and running this morning
It's still on Netflix and well worth the watch. He's arguably the best Sushi maker in the world, but his desire to still practice and improve is amazing. I found the mentorship and training of his employees very interesting as well. His standards are so high that it takes 10 years to train. The passion of all the staff as well as himself to do the same repetitive task in the real inspiration to me.
By asking the question it implies you don't think they should, but you neither give a reason why you think his post shouldn't be nor do you call into question anything in the post. I like the snacking analogy, especially as people how around more and more on sites.
Here are a few reasons people on this site are interesting in why cdixon has to say: http://cdixon.org/aboutme/
yea that's why I threw the '' around quit. I don't think there was a misinterpretation at all. He did quit. He just wasn't specific to say that he was only quitting the so called cat projects and I'm just interested in how that's going. Did the study hall pay off and such.
What a great paragraph: clean, logical and completely valid.
"Further, while your intentions appear good, those who download the UI file may not act so altruistically. For example, a nefarious downloader may use the file to set up a fake website to lure unsuspecting users to log in or to try to trade off their own service or product as part of our brand (5). We’ve seen both of these situations happen before, so they aren’t just products of our paranoid imagination."
Ned always has fantastic articles, and the way this is lays out the mutable values name relationship, is it just lazy programming that has multiple names pointing to the same mutable value(s) or are their specific cases when that would make since to have list(a) list(b) point to the same value(s)?
Exactly, this would be a awesome predictions if it started earlier in the production, like at the kernel of the idea or even at the first draft of a script before it's even green lit. Studios have been trying to predict what will be hits since the early part of the 20th century and they still get it wrong. This just seems to draw a correlation to marketing of a movie or buzz to dollars spent at box office, which is the magic behind the studio industry.
Right, it's literally just rolling out as it's in beta at the moment and opens full time in June for non-year members. It's going to be some interesting data as it's NYC's first bike share program. Looking forward to some cool visualizations!
Second the must have. I used it to get back into Python after a while. I was able to go through the rough cuts version on Safari Online and it's amazing. Poses a problem then gives you a straightforward, elegant solutions.
I was shocked by this omission too, just for the shear fact it's a depressant that's usually taken in high doses right before the sleep cycle. I'd be willing to bet, especially in college Alcohol has more effect than caffeine on you sleep schedule.
I thought a good bit about the reflection of TL;DR. My Gut reaction was to think we're heading to an idiocracy, but it could be people just getting smarter. Trust me I love the virtues of deep reading, but think of all the knowledge you could gain if it was done well? There is an entire business about providing executive summaries on books, news, and other important bits of information that we're inundated with. While I would cringe at a TL;DR for The Brothers Karamazov, I think there is some merit to being able to get a lot of tidbits quickly from a lot of news source. Would be very interesting to compare Fox, NYTimes, and the Washington Post on their 'gist.'
When I read articles like this it's always centered around the bigger companies like Goldman and such, are there smaller companies who can handle taking an IPO public? I mean these guys are a business and need to make money, but feel like a smaller firm would be more transparent and willing to work with you and not for their other more well established clients.
