toomanyrichers··on Ask HN: For those trying to hire how hard is it to find people currently?
“Privileged” has become a 4 letter word bandied about only to disparage one’s opponent.

It’s absolute bullshit. What precisely do you mean?

Nice.

On iOS if I swipe from the left I just get a white panel sliding out from the left. It should go back.

(There’s nothing in the panel, maybe that’s where there was previously an ad?)

Totally, I am sad to say my companies have never reached a 100MM round, so I wouldn’t know.

Agreed. It’s uselessly idealist to imagine you can serve the 100% without making the 99% much worse off. Actually worse than useless — it’s making things worse for the 99%!

Having seen just how much damage a single disruptive student can do, I think there must be alternatives for those that need them — if only to stop disrupting everyone else.

Still breaks swipe to go back for me.

Yes. For instance, at an early stage company I co-founded, we saw 409A of 10% of the most recent priced round.

This:

> There are shoddy houses in my area that were sold in 2021 for $100k that are now on the market for $250k in 2023.

Does not imply this:

> We're in a bubble.

toomanyrichers··on Financial anxiety: The alarming side effect of inflation
> What blows me away is that it appears to have no bearing to what people can actually afford?

If the houses aren’t sitting on the market, people can afford them. I think what actually happened is people realized that housing was underpriced. Which is insane in terms of the raw numbers, but it’s the truth: lack of supply along with increasing numbers of buyers means that the market really is that hot.

Sucks to be late to this party.
