toisanji··on Processing and P5 got newbies into coding
I love processing and p5. this is a collection of some of my drawings: https://somatic.io/ http://www.jtoy.net/sketches/ If you are trying to teach people how to program, I recommend using processing/p5. Its also a great language to improve your mathematical thinking.
toisanji··on Everyday robots are slowly leaving the lab
the problem with all of these robots is that they can't go where humans go. Humans and animals can basically travel on any terrain. they have to be on flat surfaces and so the floors need to be made for them. That means they can't go on stairs, uneven surfaces, dirt, grass, docks, rocky surfaces, etc. If this is solved, it opens up so many more opportunities.

toisanji··on Deep learning meets vector-symbolic AI
I would like to see deep learning working with embodied cognition somehow: http://www.jtoy.net/blog/grounded_language.html
toisanji··on Reward Is Unnecessary [pdf]
I agree with what you are saying. I tried to test out of building a body for computers as an experiment to give meaning to computers: http://www.jtoy.net/blog/grounded_language.html
toisanji··on Deep reinforcement learning is a waste of time (2019)
DeepMind just published a paper "Reward is enough": Furthermore, we suggest that agents that learn through trial and error experience to maximise reward could learn behaviour that exhibits most if not all of these abilities, and therefore that powerful reinforcement learning agents could constitute a solution to artificial general intelligence.
toisanji··on Deep reinforcement learning is a waste of time (2019)
how do you think the article stands with a paper just recently publishing "Reward is enough" by Richard Sutton (father of Reinforcement Learning)

toisanji··on Show HN: Continuous Machine Learning – CI/CD for Machine Learning Projects
Very interesting, I've been looking for something like this to add to our ML pipeline. a few questions:

1) can we see examples of generated reports?

2) what happens if training fails?

3) what kind of metrics can it graph? can we have it track our custom metrics?

4) can we connect with external services like with webhooks, slack, and other integrations.

5) is this a docker technology, or how does it deal with images and dependencies?

Great work!

toisanji··on OpenAI Charter
to me this is such a waste of resources, trying to build safety for something that doesn't exist and is highly likely to not truly exist for a loooong time.
toisanji··on How to Fall Asleep in Two Minutes or Less
I've had various forms of insomnia most of my life. If this could really be turned into a reliable technique or product for people to fall asleep, they would become rich. Recently, my bigger problem is I wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall back asleep easily. Insomnia effects so many people and it increases to effect more people over time. I have found that reducing overall internet and computer usage has greatly increased my ability to fall asleep.

toisanji··on GM is launching a $5K tiny electric car in China made for city commuters
Why wouldn't something like this be released in America? What would the cost of this car be if it was sold in America including the changes it would need to comply with American standards? If it cost $10k, I would buy a couple of them immediately. Its perfect for city driving.
